Received a new 5153 6l6 from Sweetwater this weekend and WOW is all I can say. Can't believe I hadn't tried one before. KILLER tones out of the box. NO boost, no EQ, just sounds sick. Of course even better with an EQ and haven't needed a boost for red, but Blue sounds great boosted.

I really cant get over how good it sounds with very little effort. Currently running thru a Splawn 4x12 with G12-65s and Eminence Small blocks in an X pattern, and then 2 Boogie mini reco cabs. Sounds great with both.

I have read many people claim that there is to much gain, etc. Def not the case. Blue needs to be boosted for sure to get heavy (even dimed), but the gain for classic rock is amazing on blue. Red is a beast and I find I can have gain at 3 o'clock and not mush out or get out of hand. Remains very tight.

SOO happy with the head that I pulled the trigger on the matching 2x12 this am (was thinking of picking up a 2x12 to round out my collection, so there you have it).

Great amp and def enjoying it more than my JP2c, Chupacabra 100, 3 Chanel triple rec and my new PRS MT15 (which has grown on me considerably).

Can't reco the new 5153 enough. Even great bedroom tones. LOVIN IT!

BTW, my GF says I am notorious for not liking an amp the 1st few days until it is dialed in. She is shocked I am enjoying soo much out of the box!

Love my V1. Blue boosted is great, but I like the dry, tight high gain tone I get by diming the blue gain.
Red is glorious, doesn't mush out for me. No boost, gain at 2pm. Green channel? I don't need no stinking green channel!
I did NOT like the 2x12 cab. Bright and congested. sounding. Sold that one off quick. My Mesa Trad 412 is a perfect match IMO.

Congrats and enjoy!

I had both the 50w & 100w a couple years back and thought the blue ch was pretty cool boosted, but couldn't stand the red ch on either. Just wasn't my thing.

V2??? Did they revamp it from say a 2015/16 year model?

I saw you on TGP, I can't wait for mine!!!
I have the original 100 watter which I love, it's just too damn big...lol I'm hoping the 50 watter sounds close. I tried one in a store and it sounded great, but I really can't tell till I get it home.
I can do any kind of music on it too!

Yeah, loving the V2. The v2 is new for 2018 and has the concentric gain and volume for the green channel so blue and green don't have to share that.
Damn, hoping the 2x12 is good. I have a WTGs Et65 I can swap a speaker out for if need be.

Can't imagine this amp sounding bad. I haven't really been able to make it sound like shit at all.

Holy SHIT, you guys are diming the gain on the blue channel?

Granted, I run mine boosted out front, but even with mid output pickups, I run my gain at about 3.5-4 out of 10 and it seems plenty saturated. Yinz are nuts!

Anyways, I'm not sure if they made any changes other than the concentric knobs on the v2, but I definitely dig the way mine sounds over the V1. A little more clear and organic, it seems.

Glad you're enjoying yours, these amps are hard to beat.

Very cool. I keep considering one of these, or the MT15. Which ever can get the chuggiest low end chunk at low volumes. :D

ive been through so many amps over the last few years, and my evh50 is my favorite metal amp, and has beat some serious competition that ive thrown at it. just brutality in a box, and I used the blue channel straight, for a short set of queen material lately. I kinda hate that I don't use the midi, or channel switching, or the switchable loop, but I'm kind of a just plug a guitar in and play kinda guy these days.
I got an evh 2x12 recently, that has the g12h 30w anniversary speaks in it. is that what came stock? seems to be a love or hate cab. I haven't had a lot of time on it yet. may switch them out for a pair of eminence govs that I have.

Cool amp- one of the other bands I played with this past weekend has one, it sounded great.

Def the 5153. Ive got both. You need a volume pedal/box in the loop and an eq for bedroom volumes on the MT15. Suprising I know. 5153 has waaay better taper.

Man, the EVH 50w has been haunting me lately. V1 was my first tube amp years ago. Then I sent it to Kruse for the stealth mods. Then I got mad gas and sold it. The tone of the blue channel, gain dimed and unboosted, has been haunting me ever since. And the red channel really is brutality in a box, unbelievable at bedroom volumes too.

Throw in resonance/presence controls, midi, switchable loop, and now the concentric pots...ok I better stop, I just bought a Revv (but have to wait 5 months for it doh!)

On top of all this, the EVH 412 is the best cabinet I've ever played through. Not only is it the best match for any EVH head, but it has been brilliant with PRS Archon, Herbert, Purple Nightmare, Sig:X, and even a Katana head. I tried the EVH 2x12 and it wasn't bad, but was completely dominated by the 412 FYI!
