I go through amps like most people go through picks so I usually don't do new amp days.  I picked up a new 6534+ last week and I've been waiting for the honeymoon period to wear off before I posted anything about it. If anyone doesn't know, the 6534+ is esentially a 6505+ (or 5150II) with EL34's and a redesigned clean/crunch channel. I don't know what they did but this thing sounds MUCH better IMO than any 5150/6505 I've ever played. In fact it's quickly becoming one of my favorite amps ever and I've owned just about everything.

Cleans - best cleans of any 6505/5150 I or II which isn't saying much :D but it sounds GREAT!!
Crunch - big gain boost, awesome VH, AC/DC, GNR type tones, nice and tight
Lead - TONS of gain, tight low end, crunchy mids, screaming highs, RAW!!

The footswitch allows you to switch the crunch button in and out, fx loop and switch between the 2 channels. The amp IMO is more like a 3 channel amp though. I had a 5150II and the volume boost when going between crunch and clean made it almost unusable at loud volumes but not with the 6534+. It just adds gain and tightens everything up perfectly.

This is easily the best $980 I've spent on gear in a LONG TIME. I didn't expect much when I plugged in for the first time but I've been floored since.

Also, it sounds best to me with my Bogner straight w/ 2 V30's and 2 G12H30's. All V30's don't do it justice. :gethim:

Awesome!
I been wanting to check one of these out myself.
They have one at my local music store but I havent had the time to go up there and check it out.

Congrats man!!

This was one of my complaints about my old 6505+, great news.

Damn I want to try one of these, congrats. :)

My local shop sells out of them as soon as they get them in. Ive never had the pleasure of hearing one yet

I'm a Marshall guy through and through, but I really want one of these amps!

The 6505's sound great, I've been at GC playing on 1 a few times, I'm more of an EL34 lover myself but you're going to get a great amp with the 6505.

I'd like to check one of these out. Never been a huge 5150 fan, but I can't deny it's a great amp. I want to hear this run in stereo with a 6505/5150.

Does this new model have a choak? And are they still biased pretty cold? Obviously it would be different to accommodate the tube type, but is it on the low side still?

Congrats dude. Sound like your really happy with it!

Thanks! The 6505 should be fun and a nice companion for my Marshall DSL50. I've owned a 5150II a few years back and at the time I traded it for the DSL50, I wish I could have kept both. But now as I could get one back, I took the plunge... If Mr Mailman could be a lil' faster... :gethim: :D

You might et lucky like I did and get an extra one, haha.

What happened to the Blue LEDs like on the NAMM vid? That looked damn cool! :gethim: :gethim:

Anyway....clips please!

Thanks everyone!

I haven't taken the cover off to see what preamp tubes it comes with yet because it sounds so good. That's usually one of the first things I do because I'm never happy with any amp.

The power tubes are Ruby EL34BHT's. I put some Winged C EL34's in it just to hear the difference and they sound great too. I haven't pulled it out of the headshell yet to check what mA they are running at though. It does have the external bias knob like the 6505+/5150II. I'm sure the range probably isn't that great but I guess the most important thing is that it sounds bitchin as is.

Not sure if it has a choke either. I haven't gotten that far. I'm guessing it doesn't.

Damn man, happy belated amp day! Would love to hear one. Fuck! All this Peavey talk is giving me gas......must........resist......

This may be a stupid question, but do these heads have a master volume?
