I got this sweet, what appears to be an 05, 1987x Plexi reissue with matching 1960TV cab with original English made Greenbacks. I don't think I'll be keeping this one long as I'll never be able to use it to anywhere near its fullest extent without having the cops called on me. Plus, I don't want to modify it as that's just wrong. I'll probably shop it around in the classifieds section and see if I can't parley it into something a bit more useful to me as I've been looking at hot Marshall'esque style amps over the past week or so.

That is hot!

Just a recommendation. Try a Freyette Power Station with it. I picked one up and have run a JCM800 2203X, Quick Rod, and 5150 III Stealth through it and the change in tone is almost non existent even at barely audible levels. Now that I have it, looking into some type of Plexi circuit so that I can enjoy the tone without going to jail.

Congrats! Yes, do NOT mod it...just grab a few pedals and try managing both volumes. Or, an attenuator or PS as previously stated.
My 72 100w and matching cab are going nowhere.
THE sound of rock from 1970-1990.

This! I was running a Germino Lead 55 (1987 clone) in my small 10 x 12 room with
connected neighbors on two sides. Zero complaints.

What's the story with the FX loop?

FX loops are standard equipment on the newer reissue plexis; starting in the early 2000s I believe

Very cool. I echo the recommendation to try it with a Reactive Load (Fryette Power Station, Suhr RL, etc...) before giving up on it.

The easier thing to do is run a volume pedal in that loop or one of those Volume Knob boxes on Ebay and Reverb. That will let you have a pre-phase inverter master volume and be able to get some nice crunch from the preamp at very reasonable volumes. I have the same amp...

Doesn't need a jack, just needs the chrome nut that finishes it. The jack is intact, those chrome nuts don't thread onto a jack extending out past the frame, they thread on the inside. I thought that too at first from pictures until I saw the replacement part and then saw the amp up close. I'll probably end up buying one though for like a buck just to clean up the appearance.

A MXR microamp works good for bringing the volume down via the loop.

Don't forget because you have a loop , you can get anything out of that amp pretty much , 4 cable method , or just straight into the return will give you access to the power section....

Sweet amp and cab congrats !
