Thanks to Alsguitar for hooking me up again. First I grabbed the Bogner 20th Shiva out of his studio and now his 2007 xtc classic.

What a monster amp! I loved the 101b but I could never quit justify holding on to it since the 20th sheeves was a bit better for my needs. The xtc classic seems to perfect the minor hem-haws I had on the 101b.

The classic cleans are really nice! Very workable. I could tweak all day but so far it's been very easy to dime in a round, fendery clean and a gritty bluesy vintage Marshall jcm 800 ish tone.

The blue channel? O...m...g so ridiculously lush and crunchy. Nice tone separation without losing girth. I could stay on this channel all day. You could spend time tweaking it but I don't see why. I like to dial it up and let er rip.

The red on the classic isn't quit the red on the 101b but is still very vicious and great for heavy chugging and for solos on boost.

Back to playing the red beast!

Awesome Tom! Quite the multi-coloured Bogner rig you have yourself there.

I vastly prefer the Classic to the regular 101B. I agree 100% with your "tone review" above. I too found the Classic easy to "set it and forget it".

Have fun with it!

That's a beauty for sure. Any chance it will overtake the 20th shiva as your favorite? I just got rid of my xtc earlier this week and I already miss it

That is a nice pair of amps to own! Congrats and well done!!!

:)

20th Shiva is a kick ass amp.....huge bottom end and nice/smooth grind. Only thing I didn't like was the reverb send sharing the FX loop return tube. I took the pan out of mine, but would have liked to have sent it in to Bogner to take it completely out of the circuit.

Thanks guys. No i dont THINK it will overtake my 20th sheeves as my main. At least not for recording. Live it may well when our tour starts next year. I love having 3 very distinct channels with boosts on all 3. Its hard to argue with that.

Steve, I hear you on the reverb. Its a decent pan but I know what you mean about sharing the fx loop....

You still plugging into the tremoverb? Still need to try one of these in my quest and was close to buying yours when you listed it but it was just too ugly

really nice setup, i had a 101 classic and liked it.

LOVE my xtc classic *much* more than I did the 101b  Had mine for 10 years+...

LOL i love how you have your Bog rig set up so that you eat your breakfast while plugging in and by the time the amp is warmed up you grab your coffee and the day begins with a Bogner

Shame they couldn't just tell you what traces to jumper and remove the reverb in and out if possible. The Classic is the best circuit I have heard. I should have gotten my 20th with the classic option.

I wish, lol, that pic was at my old apartment, though it's by the breakfast bar in the new one too. I keep it there because it's near the door that way for when I need to load it for gigs/rehearsals. I don't play it much at home honestly, and it's at very low volumes when I do. It sounded great last night with a new band I'm going to be gigging with though, love it

Looks great, but I wouldn't personally call it "blood red" at all.
Put some mistletoe or a cupid next to it and you'll be more on track.
Pure awesomeness regardless though!

Sweet I have an older 101B (with symbol sn) and Bogner 4x12 w/V30's love that rig.

Sweet Shiva too, I'd like to have an older 6L6 version.

Also very nice LP, is that burbon burst or dark burst? That is a beauty and awesome pairing with the Bogner amps ;)
