Big thanks to D-Nastee11 for a silky smooth transaction, stupid good price on a dead mint Budda Superdrive 30 II (pre Peavey if that matters). Only about an hour with the amp so far at low volumes but even at that I am grinning ear to ear. As good of a clean and lead sound as I have heard yet, only time will tell if this is the one or not but signs are good. It came loaded with some of the Tube stores select series 7189's and the Mullard reissue 12ax7's which seem to sound great. So far so good, i'll try and post a full review in a few weeks and if I get time I might even try a clip or two :)

I have been wanting a sd30 for a while now and should have jumped on that deal. CLips and review would be cool.

Been interested in these for awhile. Happy new amp day!!!

Yeah it was so stupid cheap I couldn't pass it up! This thing is pristine and came with a custom x case hardshell case too which is a bonus! I still am going to get a Surreal sometime next year but this thing looks to be a keeper as well. Way more gain on tap than I thought which I am happy about.

Very cool! ...with a case and cheap!
It has a lot of gain, enough for any style. It's just not a chugga-chugga uber tight kind of gain.
Make sure you try the recommended tubes before you give up on it (if it ever comes to that).

Jeff Bober recommends...
v1 - Sovtek 12ax7wb
v2 - Sovtek 12ax7wa
v3 - Sovtek 12ax7wa
Sovtek EL84s
Sovtek 5U4G tube rec....or the Electro Harmonix 5U4GB will tighten the amp up a bit

a smokin deal is a smokin deal. cant pass on em.. Im curious about those as well. keep us posted.

Thanks guys, I actually had two Sovtek 12ax7wa's laying around so I put those in there and it did seem to sound a touch better than the Mullard reissues but close. The 7189's are a Sovtek power tube and seem to sound killer. It definitely has enough gain for any kind of metal in my book but it isn't super tight as you said. Still tight enough for me to do the kind of heavy stuff I like to do. I have my first show with it in about six hours and can't freakin' wait! The build quality is as good as I have seen and the thing is light as hell too! So far i'm floored but it's the honeymoon so i'm going to wait a couple weeks to do a review.

it has the EH rectifier tube in it already but I didn't check to see which one. He got a whole retube set from the tubestore so I would imagine it's what you mentioned.

teh clipz?

Matt, I will try and find time to do some but it's not looking good anytime soon. I have three little ones running around my house and a more than full time job but i'll do my best.

definitely interested to see how you like it...giving me GAS from listening to clips already!!

just got back from my first show with it and it is the BEST tone I have ever had period! I think you would dig it I had a JSX for a long time and it was great but imho the Budda does everything better with the exception of really fast\heavy stuff but the Budda does AIC type stuff no problem and that's just fine by me :)

Awesome...glad you dig it!
I like the JSX, but the only tone I ever use live is the clean channel with my OCD...I find that the other two channels sound alright at home, but in a live situation they just don't cut through at all (and they have a little too much gain for me).

I'm going for a Bonamassa-ish lead tone...he used to play Budda, so I'm pretty sure it would be a good option.

Jordan, the JSX does not do a good inbetween tone at all stock but I bet with a 5751 or a 12ay7 in the first couple of slots it would. The JSX is designed to be a high gain machine though so it would not be anywhere close to the top for my list of getting a good blues\rock tone. The Budda however does it in spades and can do killer metal too! Also when I had a JSX I personally thought 6l6gc's made the amp.
