Did a quick/sloppy clip at fairly low volume. Got those Creambacks loaded into Splawn 212 and pretty much just threw a pair of mics on and went.

I'll do some real clips once I've broken those Creambacks in. Will also make sure to throw in some RT approved Ratt riffs.

I see right below in your pic a Hagen. What's yer take on the two against one another - or is it simply a matter of totally different kettle of fish?

Really just completely different amps. Hagen is easily one of the most modern sounding amps I've ever played/owned. Much more low mid content and has the ability to get way more saturated. With all of the tricks on the CCV turned off, it's got a bit more gain than a JCM800 and is voiced somewhere between that and an XTC, leaning more towards the Marshall side of things but with more lows/low mids and a slightly smoother presence range. Turn on the diode clipping or any of the bright switches, and you start to get more into high gain territory, but it tops out about where Hagen's channel 3 is at 1-2 o clock on the gain knob. Much better for low-mid gain tones than the Hagen though, at least for me. The Hagen's low mids can be really overbearing if not playing on channel 3/4. Hagen's loops are a lot less picky about what goes in them, though. I had to go buy some new pedals to use with the CCV's. None of my delays worked without vastly changing the tone.

You've got a 20th Anni XTC, right? It's a lot more comparable to that, and I was very close to snagging one of those (or another OD100) when bobbtoz PM'd me about the CCV. It doesn't have the advanced switching functions of the XTC though and still isn't as gainy as that amp on the red channel. Clean channel is a bit more like a Plexi's bright channel than the Fender-ish thing the XTC has going on. No MIDI, but that's not a big deal for me since I'm using a MusicomLab switcher on my board that can also switch through TRS jacks.

And I'll throw up a full room pic just for shits n gigs.

some guy on the SLOclones forum got the CCV schematics and old CCV parts from Barrang and posted them over there.

What a douche nozzle. Bet he felt proud of himself.....

Man, I'm more concerned about that fact that he got them from Barrang. That's incredibly unprofessional and honestly sounds like a violation of business ethics unless Brad or Mark gave them permission, which I seriously doubt. The reasons for the switch to Metro are becoming very clear.

Ok, the story I heard and this is one of those things that was heard from another person that heard from someone else is Barrang had all their Cameron production stuff in a storage unit and it was not paid. Some electronics company that does recycling ended up with a bunch of the stuff here in NorCal when the storage place went up for auction and another person got some of the other stuff.

I remember seeing ads on Craigslist for CCV boards and such about three months ago here in the Bay Area so I called the guy and that's how I found out this info in case anyone was wondering.
That's crazy. It will be funny if some cloner actually gets a CCv built before the actual company.

Seems like the older ones don't have the extra "Drive" switch that the new ones have. I wonder what that's all about.

Some do, some don't.

I always preferred the ones that don't..ymmv

Yeah....for the most part, I do too, but I had one with a drive switch, that was ridiculously good.
