So a while back the PT in my Hermansson Simms Watts bit the dust. The original tranny was extremely rare and overbuilt so I elected to have Mercury Magnetics clone it for me. The owner himself decided to do the work so I was going to be without my amp for quite a while.
In the interim I contacted Nik at Ceriatone about building me a special Plexi. One with the clarity and tightness of the Chupa, but with less brightness and much more beef. I also requested Mercury Magnetics power and output trannies, choke, and a pair of 6550's. This along with some tweaks to my taste by Nik resulted in this:

This is an OBG Les Paul with 8k PAF's straight into the Chupa, out to a Bogner 2x12 with a CL80 and Scumback J75. Recorded with a phone at low volumes.
Nik pulled off exactly what I requested with build quality to rival amps twice the price. Thing is, now that the Simms is back together, there is WAY too much overlap. This speaks volumes for the Chupa. While I'll probably pass this amp along, I wanted to relay my take on the Chupa and my experience with Nik.
Cheers
