Well,....maybe similar is the wrong word. They're amps sort of in the same vein,...although, the Jubilee is capable of more gain. You're right about the Jubilee sounding great cranked, but you can get some really great low volume tones in the 25 watt mode.

I will have to try the 25Watt mode again, on mine, it has always seemed to take something away from the tone.

I like on the ED that you can switch it from 90 to 45watts. I am wondering how much that changes the tone. Mesa is generally pretty good with their lower power switches. I generally run my mark IV in half power and don't feel like I am losing out on anything.

Yeah, the 25 watt mode does change the tone a bit,...but for low volume wanking around I think it's fine.

The difference between the 90 and 45 watts on the ED is more of a feel thing. It's tighter and more immediate in it's response with the full 90 watts, and in 45 watt mode it's a bit squishier with a tad more compression. At this point I think I like the 45 watt mode best.

I've played the ED combo in the GC's, it's one of the balliest combos I've heard. It could use more gain but that just makes it a great platform for pedals. I plugged a BB Preamp into one and it turned it into a fire breather.
