This was an amp that was auctioned off for a charity at the Music Exchange store out of NY. The winner was not a musician so the store sold the amp for him and I was the lucky guy who got it. This is a great amp, for the used prices these go for you can't beat it. The only complaint I have is the dam popping when switching channels!!! Will have to figure something out on this issue. Here are a few pics

Mine is dead quiet when I switch channels. No pop whatsoever.

Yeah mine is silent when switching channels too, the amp was actually designed with that in mind, might want to check in with Fender about that.

Sweet! I already have a EVH black half stack and an ivory half stack but I have an ivory autographed head on layaway at Guitar Center that Eddie signed when he came into the store. I need it like I need a hole in the head but I couldn't resist. Oh, and neither of my amps have the popping when switching channels but I'm using a RJM Amp Gizmo and my G-System to switch channels.

I just got one in a trade a few days ago myself. I can't stop playing it!!!

these amps are insanely awesome to play. congrats on the autographed amp head. they have an ernie ball evh axis at my local guitar center signed by mr evh himself. they are asking 1999.00 for it. i have been wanting it since they got it

I just got in a 5150 III head too. Congrats on yours. Cool to have been touched and signed by EVH!

Ed even spoke on the silent switching as a must have for studio work, I thought that the switching was silent?

It does it with the footswitch and with the front panel buttons. It's the worst when going to channel 3. I will try contacting Fender or just figure out myself hopefully. What type of tubes to everyone's have in it new. Mine is serial #5377 and the pre and power tubes are non labeled. The power tube base have a label that says " JCX RED #9."

The amp should have jj preamps and power tubes. I did a test with Ed with many tubes and by far in this amp these were the best. As far as the switching it is a known problem on some of them and should be fixed by fender. They should switch silently.
