So I am on my way home from TM...and picking up my newly modified 1976 Marshall JMP100 Superlead, I'm thinking of calling, the Skull Crusher!

I originally asked Dave for a kitchen sink mod but more Metal sounding.
Over the the months, and further discussions, I think he got what I was looking for...
An amp not completely over the top in gain, but one thick and articulate, more like a Metal Voiced Marshall, but good for Hardcore style stuff as well.
I play in a slightly death/hardcore style band, but I use lesser gain than you would think...usually around 1:30 on most amps.
Something not overly bright, but also thick with good girth for chugging, and plenty of mids for cutting through the mix.

Well...
One power chord was all it took.
I think he got it spot on, the very first try!

He doesn't want to call it the Metal mod, as it might not be heavy enough for everyone...
But I'm going to call it...

The SkullCrusher!
Here's a quick video I threw together on the way to TM to pick it up and such. It's out of sync and screwed up, but you can get the idea...

Then, went right to my show, and used the amp without even time to dial it in or anything, pretty much the same settings as the above clip...
Check it out...Live...Last Night! (I could have been louder, apparently, but it seemed really loud there)...

congrats, I need to get one of my jmps out to him to get done.

Updated with new clips from last nights show with the new amp!

Don't feel too bad, you can't hear the Mexican playing trumpet behind you at all. :D

Amp sounds killer.

Amp sounds nice, it has that grind that reminds me of a ccv sort of. When did u send it in to dave? I am anxiously awaiting my jmp's return from him also. I was hoping to have it by mid summer but I havent heard anything yet.

Daves the best, sounds pretty awesome, Mr. Friedman can throw down on guitar too.

Amp sounds great, Dave is the man!!!
To fix your sync problems: download Mpeg Streamclip(it's free). Convert the video to an MP4, then you should be fine after that uploads to YT :)

How many pre-amp tubes does that Fugger have? Take some pic's of the tOObs. :D

Brand new JJ#L34-L's

Whatever preamp tubes were in there. He didn't see the need to change them out, as he thought they still sounded really good.

Do you have 3 pre's or 4? Did he add an xtra gain stage? Diode clipping??? Wat?

nice sounding amp, skullcrusher is a good name for that sound.

That riff brings back memories of Lugo's amp shootout

Ah, playing in a restaurant.....I remember when I was first gigging in Seattle in '94 and playing at this place downtown called Gibson's that was an Asian restaurant and bar. The owner would stand by the bar with an SPL meter  You played with your backs to large windows that faced the street and at one show my drummer pulled his pants down so passerby's could get a good look

Also this other joint that was called New World (had many other names) at the time (another Asian restaurant with a bar). Loved getting free meals  Saw Napalm Death and At The Gates in '96 here. Awesome. Spring rolls, cocktails and metal

Congrats on being stoked on the amp..........damn, I reached my smiley limit.

Congrats! Amp sounds great! What cab/speakers were you playing it through at TM? I much preferred that tone over the Bogner cab (Uberkab?)

Both sounded good though.

Your big Doh moment.
Ready?

TM was Bogner Uberkab. Front loaded.

Live...

My Newer Bogner Uberkab. Front loaded. 75's&30's. For both.

It really is a great sounding cab. Very deep and huge sounding.
Much better bass response than my Mesa or Mashall cabs.

By far!

Wow, really?
When the "at home" part of your vid started, the tone got way brighter. I guess that's due to the video camera angle. That can drastically alter the sound as I've noticed in my own videos. FWIW I loved the TM tone and the live tone. Just not the tone at home as
much.
Cool amp! Sounds a little more in the Fortin or Cameron realm of heavy gain/grind but with Dave's balance.

It was either that, or MeatGrinder.

It's a very meaty sounding amp...
