Following good employment news, I saw a Herbie for a great price and couldn't resist. This thing is a MONSTER - I have simply never heard high gain tones like it. Compliments my VH4 beautifully - less refined/compressed, but more unleashed: it's WILD.

In the first photo: Herbie, VH4, Framus 2x12 with V30s, Eventide Timefactor, Columbus, Maxon OD-808, PRS Custom 24, Mesa Mark IV combo.

Thanks have to go out to Peter Diezel for making the greatest amps on the planet :rock:

spirit7 - Herbert is the divine GOD of all guitar amplifiers, bar none - clean, crunch, over-the-top. :)

Are any of you Herbert users using the Columbus? I cannot for the life of me get it to work :( Using the normal "Store" method (which works fine with the VH4 - literally it took me 5 minutes) doesn't work. I've tried connecting it with both a midi cable and an XLR.

Also, this thing sounds GODLY.

Congrats man!!! :rock:
I owned both of them amps and they can BRING IT!!! :thumbsup:

FCB1010 works fine for me. Didn't have to do a thing but plug her in.

Hey spirit7 - you might want to invest in a larger desk! :yes:

Yes, indeed. Space is somewhat restricted, however, so it might be case of putting some of the stuff into storage :aww:

That desk contains, inter alia:

- Alcohol;
- CDs;
- Receipts;
- Miscellaneous bits of change;
- Sunglasses;
- Books.

Which should stay and which must go?!

Also, I put the Herbert in omni mode and now the store function seems to be working with the Columbus. Yay! Phenomenal amp.

The difficult question: do I keep the VH4 or sell it and get something very different like an XTC or Uberschall?
