Is for real. A couple of more days with it and some amps might be on the market.

Hell yeah congrats on the NAD!!

What’s it doing for you that others don’t? I only ask because I played on the iconic 6L6 head during a recent Black Friday event this week. Seemed stiff for what I personally prefer without burn on, which sounded better, but felt odd under the fingers. Burn on fixed the feel but didn’t seem to sound as good. I want to see what others are experiencing that make it so… iconic

Congrats again and I do believe the el34 sounds better than the 6L6

Just the Marshall dna mixed with the 5150 bark. I like it much better than the 6l6. To me it feels like playing a modded Marshall. With a boost it gets nasty.

Yep.

I've had both 100w EVH Stealths, and kept trying to like the 50w 3 different times.
Played the Iconic and knew that was the best of all the EVH amps...for what I like.
How would you say the iconic differs from the stealth 50 ? (I'm vascillating between the 2)

There's this 'squish' with the 5153s that seems to 'smear' the notes in an unpleasant way. Lots of compression, which also takes away from the tone IMO. They are decent amps but in the end I just don't like the tone, and squish/sag they have.
The Iconic is more open and raw sounding, without that same 'squish' thing. It's compressed but not in the same way as the 5153s. Dialing the gain back a little in the Iconic is key.

The 5150 III 6l6 100 watt I had was a huge disappointment

I’m in this camp except with the 50w 6L6 and the Stealth 50. Hated both of them. Still don’t understand the hype.

Listen to Earth Scar by Decapitated to understand the hype. Or just listen to basically any A/B shootout online where that amp is involved. I don’t even need one full hand to count the ones where the EVH 50w was easily better.

Those online shootouts are why I gave it three chances. 6L6 50w twice and then the Stealth. I had those in the same room with numerous amps including some that get a bad rap. Even the DSL50, original Carvin Legacy, and a modded Peavey XXX were preferred by more than one player.

Well if you didn't like it then you didn't like it. :)

I just played my 6L6, a shitty clip below, what do you think ? I had all three 5153 50W, honestly I dont miss any of them.

Man that sounded great!! Is that a Dimarzio in the bridge of your PRS singlecut? If so, which model is it?
