Had the amp for about a week now, loving it so far, finally got new set of tubes today, really rips now

I'd considered the various mods (depth mod and so on) but so far it's doing what i want, haven't had a chance to crank it just yet,

the mod itch has already gotten the better of me tho, after changing tubes/rebiasing, i got a slab of walnut for furniture fittings from a hardware store cut to size, and replaced the jet city one, prefer the look

(for those wondering that is an original '76 hiwatt custom 100 below ;)

//

made an attempt at doing some videos -- single SM57 micing

Nice! I would look into some nice tranparent colored stain for the wood. Dark grey or expresso for example...

that is an idea =0, it does look darker in person , damn neon lights in my basement make it look quite different

Ain't a thing wrong with the way that sounds! I see more JCA amps wrecked with mods they don't need on here than just about anything else. Of all the amps on here the JCA amps are some of the best stock amps around. I don't think that amp needs any modifications at all...

thanks, i'm thinking the same thing, tube swap goes a long way already, can't wait to try it at higher volumes see how it responds, see if i make some more videos today, gonna start adding a bit of verb or delay to the super dry guitar tracks

Yup it's a beautiful cut for sure. I guess you could just stain one side, so you have the option of both the stained and natural look too. :thumbsup:

Sounds good as a bse tone but in my opinion, for the Ratt and Extreme stuff, ya gotta tighten it up with a screamer or OD. That's a 80$ solution vs a mod and that is what all those guys did in the 80's anyways so i am sure they would have loved to have an amp like that stock to boost.
