I've had the two for nearly a week but just now had the chance to play through them.
Introducing:
The 2204 nicely compliments my existing 2203 as an amp more suited towards a plugged-in (no pedal) preamp-gain rock tone through an early breakup speaker cone setup such as a G12M/G12H. Set the preamp volume control anywhere from 3-4 while cranking the master volume all the way and it delivers that 'balls-to-the-wall' signature Marshall EL34 tone.
Mark Cameron, known for his numerous Marshall high-gain mods over the years, along with Brad King of the Rig-Talk forums released their Cameron Amplification line producing the Atomica in 2008. This amp is a beast on its own and goes much further than my boosted 2203 can. There's no need to mod any of your Marshalls when owning this amp, as the Atomica delivers all the glorious Marshall tones + more without the extra feedback attributed to a modded circuit. After briefly owning a Friedman Pink Taco, as well as playing through Friedman's Small Box 50 & BE-100, I'd have to say THIS is the amp I've been looking for.
The recent JMP addition ends my Marshall quest for now, as well as my amp purchases for the remainder of the year after breaking the bank... (we'll see what happens come 2016
) The next piece in the guitar tonal equation I'd like to start tweaking are pickups & speakers. After being a longtime Seymour Duncan JB user, my TB-11 Custom Custom finally came in the shop today. I look forward to hearing this pickup flavor this through my amps and someday toying with others such as the DiMarzio Super Distortion.
Unfortunately there are no clips, as my Focusrite unit died & is out of warranty. I'll try to upload some as soon as I can. Cheers!
