I picked this up last weekend or so. It's a Peavey VTM 60. I'm digging it quite a bit. With all the voicing switches off, it's like a Marshall. With a couple of them on it sounds even better IMO. The only problem is the nasty cream retolex job one of the past owners did  If you can find one of these get it!

Damn...I thought you couldn't get much uglier than the original VTM cosmetics.
Absolutely killer amp, though.

If you've got $140 to spare, throw it in a 5150 headshell.

It fits in a 5150 headshell?

Maybe I'll do that. I was thinking about just making a new wood cab for it or making a new one and tolexing that. What's the switch on yours for?

VTMs kick ass. I have a 60 and a 120. I'm most likely going to get a new 5150 headshell in the not too distant future. I made a temporary headshell out of pine and it is super light. I might try to make a nice one myself if I can get ahold of some proper tools. Might make another pine headshell and cover it in tweed just for fun.

Dovetails are the way to go!

The one on the right is a voicing control - it extends the bass range of the tone stack.
It's pretty subtle, and it only affects around 50-80hz...so it doesn't really do anything unless you're using an extended-range guitar or a low-tuned 6...and even then, it's not a huge difference.
The other switch is a treble-peaking cap bypass - it makes the amp a little less bright/harsh.
