Holy f.... this thing sounds amazing!! I didn't have enough time to play that fucker but it does sound more raw than the triple xxx
 
The Ultra series came right before the XXX. The Ultra Plus head was basically the precursor to the XXX. They took the Ultra Plus and fuzzed it up to make it sound more like a Mesa Recto, and the XXX was born. The Ultra series is not as saturated, and has more of that Mesa Mark sound to it, in a way.
 
Love the Ultra series! Sounds awesome dude!

I had a Prowler for a while that someone converted to a head....I miss that amp!
 
Ultras did rock. They sound good. Peavey had some good stuff back then!

Thx dude! Yeah I love the ultra series! I found this one for 300 euros !

Exactly! Listen to this quick test that I recorded - ultra plus crunch channel gain at 10 vs triple xxx gain at 4!

HNAD! Based on the above clip I prefer the XXX. How about a comparison with the same settings on both amps?

Actually the only different setting was the gain! The Triple XXX was wet at 3.5 ultra channel while the ultra plus was set at 5 ultra channel!
