Recently moved. I thought I'd get by w/ the Synergy stuff thru the Boss TAE. It's all great stuff but I was missing something. It was a feel thing. Sold it all off.
Got the 2012 Marshall HW cab for $1000. The cab is like new.
Wanted the PRS Hendrix head. Just got it, the 100 watter. For Jimi/ Trower or 70s rock tones it is killer. I will say w/ all the Marshalls and clones I've owned over the years, this is the closest. The High-Mid switch and 3-way Bright Switch makes it really versatile. It smokes the "fuse-blowing" Suhr SL68.
The Friedman BE OD pedal was crushing thru this amp.

Nice. Rig looks great. Love to hear this when u get a chance.

Did you get rid of the Suhr ?
I recently moved, so I got rid of the Suhr SL68 and SLO-100. I ran the Suhr thru the Boss Waza TAE and it blew the HT fuse more than a few times. Brought it to a great Long Island amp tech and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I got rid of it. Good amp but the thing had no bright cap and was kinda dull unless cranked.

Do a little digging but pretty sure the TAE is known for causing issues with some amps.

Nice cab and these amps look great also. Interested in hearing a comparison to a plexi.

You beat me to it. The TAE does not play well with all amps. My Nitro and Recto would always be blowing fuses. Had a tech check out both amps since I thought they may have bad screen resistors and such but thank god both amps were fine. Something with that TAE. Has Boss addressed this yet? Once I sold mine , I never bothered to investigate further.

I think John is the one that says if you run his amps through the TAE then there’s no implied warranty anymore. He said the IR should have a resonant peak up top for everything to work correctly. Not sure if it was him though.

Considering many others have had problems with the TAE, I’d say the SL68 wasn’t completely at fault. Someone on the forum had a wizard OT get fried due to the TAE. I’ve heard rumors of a class action lawsuit against boss but haven’t heard anything about it in a long time.

Any more thoughts on this now that its been a few months?

The PRS is the perfect Plexi-style amp for me. So much so I recently got rid of the Marshall 2203x.
It takes pedals extremely well. I can run it clean or turn it up and get that clean/dirty Jimi Strat tone I love.

I'm sure I'll make a few vids. Got a Tone King Iron Man II Attenuator coming, so I can open the amp up a little.
Interested in your thoughts on the Iron man once you get it

This one is really closest to the real deal for you?

I know you’ve had a lot of great amps so really saying a slightly more modern build PRS clone would stand out.

It was you that loved the YJM for a while a too? This one crush it?

I was like dang 2 new amps on one day ! Just noticed the date

The YJM was a killer amp. It's a shame it was a limited edition. That said, it was like a '72 metal panel Marshall. I really only liked that amp w/ the Yngwie Strat. I didn't like the built-in attenuating feature, it didn't capture the power tube breakup. Very loud, brash amp. I wish I had the PS-100 back then to control that beast.
The PRS is different. I keep saying this, but the thing I like most about this amp is it's flexibility, due to having a couple of simple switches. The 3-way bright switch and the Mid-Gain switch. Also, to me, the tone controls react like the Hiwatts I've owned which is much different than Marshall.
I run the amp either clean and hit it w/ pedals, or wound up a bit.
Having the 2203x was redundant. There was no point when I was digging the PRS and the Marshall was basically a one-trick pony.
So, the PRS is closest thing to having one of Jimi's amps. I have no idea how it would be cranked trying to get VH tones out of it.

The Iron Man is gone. It was a great attenuator. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer the re-amping type Fryette.
ah....damn, just recognized the date stamp on your original posting....

You ever have a chance to try a Germino?
