Picked up one of these yesterday. Only played it for a little while. Going to play it tonight and maybe make a clip. I plan on putting my RFT el34's in it to see if that brings it up another level. Sounded great at the store! And I sold my Stiletto Ace. Basically sold my Stiletto Ace and bought this. I think this thing sounds way better. They go for about 1100$. I got a little better deal than that. Will post more later.

It sounds really good. It's pretty loud, Imagine with a 4x12 it would kill. With the eq dimed it opens it up, way up, it gets much louder. External bias ports, I biased my rft's in about 5 minutes and was ready to go. footswitch for channels and reverb. bright switch for each channel. Clean channel goes from nice cleans to ACDC, then the lead channel takes it up to hard rock, metal/punk gain territory. Very dynamic sound for leads, you can really hear all the strings cut through. pinch harmonics and lots of sustain into feedback. Maybe a speaker upgrade in the future, a classic lead 80 perhaps? I liked those when I had them before. Anyway, very happy with this, I'll record clips tomorrow,I was bonding with it tonight.

Congrats on the NAD!

Looking forward to the clips, as of yet I haven't heard any of it that move me.
How is the build quality on these, I'm gonna guess pretty good because Paul and company don't usually put out junk.

It seems to be built pretty well. The pots are very solid feeling. the rocker switches all seem pretty normal, solid. It's fairly quiet too I mean while turned up, it's not hissy. I was so happy with the external bias port man, that really was awesome. I will hook up my bias rite tomorrow though cuz I should really bias it properly and I am curious as to the plate voltage anyway. I'll also give the JJ's it came with a go at high volume because they could actually sound better , you never know. The RFT's sounded good but they do kind of poop out when really pushed.

Cool.

You don't see these every day. I really want to play one. If you get around to it we'd love to see some quality close up pics and maybe some gut shots. I'm looking forward to you clips as well. Metal huh? Can you do some metal on it for us? Also, I had 1 Classic Lead 80 in a 212 cab with a G1230H and liked that combo but not sure how I would like standalone. I mean, it is a pretty transparent speaker - good for metal. I bet a G1230H would rip. Also I love JJ tubes, why did you think you needed to swap them out? I'd put them back in and use the RFTs as spares ;)

Congrats

Well, by metal I mean, 80's hair metal. Yeah, I'll try to do a couple metal riffs. I don't know about the gut shots, maybe sometime but I'd rather play it right now then, take the chassis out.

I apologize for not remembering how to embed the vids on rigtalk. I couldn't find the sticky that used to explain it. Anyhow, also sorry about the grainy vid and the background noise "it's a fan" it gets hot in the room I was in so I had the fan on. It's pretty loud. Also I just learned the obligatory "lay it down" intro tonight before I went up to record, so it's not perfect. I put the JJ's back in and biased before this.

Here are some pics.

Yeah, I didnt make a clean clip but it does have a very good clean sound on the clean channel but what shocked me was how dirty the clean channel can get if you crank the volume and use the master. The volume knob works as the preamp volume on this amp. But the pristine cleans are there too. My camera sucks, it's like 9 years old.
