My Splawn Quick Rod finally came in. So far so good. I am going to refrain from writing a review just yet. I want a couple of weeks under my belt before I give thoughts or compare to what I have owned previously.

I should have pictures this week (digital camera needed to be charged). I was able to put a quick clip together. It is a retake of a previous clip I recorded called Desperate Times. I took the Mark IV rhythm tracks out and re-recorded it with the Splawn. I left the Mark IV clean tracks since I had a very small window of time to record. My playing was a tad off as well (unfinished basement with no heat vents...freezing).

I am just barely learning how to dial this bad boy in but I really like it so far. It is a completely different animal from the Mark IV. The guitar tracks in the clip could have been a bit brighter but that will come along. Over the next week I should have it tweaked and dialed in how I like it. I will start making new clips soon. I will say that it is fun trying a new flavor of amp.

Sounds good man. Did you buy it new?

Thanks Jason! I bought it used. It is a mint condition late 2007 with the updated clean. So far I am really jiving with it. I want to give it plenty of time before I give my thoughts though. Did you own one at one time?

Funny how you turn me onto these slow metal tunes like Deadhead cause I love this tune as well now and bought the KSE album :D

Sounds good and I am sure you will be nailing the sweet spot soon. Yeah right now I perfer the MK IV  version but I do understand you just got the amp so that all could change

No, I never had a QR. Just a modded Marshall and a Nitro. Does yours have those new Tung Sol EL34B's?

Thanks Scott! I like the slower tunes like you mentioned. With some time I believe I will have the Splawn dialed in to its potential. The Mark IV had the benefit of some time in addition to inherently sounding good.

This has the JJ KT77s. I'm looking forward to trying the Tung Sols. I've heard great things about them.
