I only had a little bit of time with it tonight but damn!!!! I'm thoroughly in love with my DSL but it doesn't hold a candle to the QR. I think I'm set for a while now.

Never seen one like this:

So is it an actual production one or is it a modded Marshall? Does it have the gears, two channels and all?

It's a very very very early production model. Like 2003 or so. Mine is like the 85th built or something... LOL! :D
I have a Splawn badge on mine. Yes it's 2 channels, but the clean isn't all that great (meh I didn't buy that amp for the clean channel... ;) ) No gears. High and Low input and OD1/2 on the footswitch. Mine has Dagnall transformers. Scott used Mercury Magnetics for a short time, but he felt that made the amp too stiff and switched. The later ones have Heyboer. I think he currently uses Heyboers.

I got great tones from my Splawn Competition when I owned it. One amp I regret selling. :D

I'd get another one then. Beats the pants off a JVM or Blackstar if you ask me.

I'm considering it. My Competition didn't have the half power option which would be kickass I imagine.

Nice! I had an older pre gear (2005) Quick Rod head. It was asingle input... so it wasn't quite like that one (mine had a few more controls than that one too) but overall it sounded KILLER. Not a day goes by that I don't regret selling it... another QR is definitely on "the list."

So what is the change now from the 3 preamp tubes? Is Scott using 4 now?

The QR kicks some serious ass. It's got to be the best bang for the buck out there.
