I was also hearing that great wiry Helios vibe going there. What a great voiced gain. Sounds like it has some bounce in the feel when played.

Nice NAD.

sounds cool .I think thats the least amount of gain I have heard you use .

I think I like the CCV for that era of tone , This amp seems darker thicker more in line with the Naked clips

yeah - that's got some nice hair to it

i like these better than the cameron clips as well.

HNAD

:rawk:

Sounds killer!!

I haven't been on this forum in ages, but was doing a search for the SS100 and found this ;-)

I just picked up a Brown Eye 100, and would love to hear the differences between the two amps.
Which one is smoother, warmer, squishier? What speakers do you like with each??

Keep the clips coming, great stuff

I played the SS100 a while ago but I played close attention it and the BE100.

Squishier: BE100
Warmer: both are similar IMHO
Smoother: I think the BE can be a more compressed and smoother but the SS100 can be smooth too : adjust EQ to taste.

SS100 seemed a bit thicker and less compressed with high gain. It's 'juicier' and awesome!
BE100 had a bit more gain on tap.
BE100 has arguably more tonal options with C45, Sat, Fat, 1/2 power and optional VH voice switch.
Clean SS100 is divine BF heaven with full separate EQ; BE100 is not.
BE has three switcheable sounds on 2 channels. SS100 has two switcheable sounds.

YYMV.

I purchased the BE100 because I didn't want to wait a year for the SS100, I preferred the high gain on the BE at the time, I have another amp for my dual blackface-OD needs: Lucky 13. Anyway, I always end up falling back in love with my SLO as my #1. I guess I'm just not a lover of Marshall-inspired hot rod tones compared to the Soldano SLO.

I would like to give the SS100 another spin..amongst a few other amps because I never learn.

The SS100 is definitely thicker but not in a stiff way which is kind of what makes it so special. You get this very rich wall of sound and the playability of the BE. It's genious.

Confused! :-D lol
Thicker but not in a stiffer way? I usually think of thicker as a bit squishier.

Post more clips!!! A/B comparisons would be awesome with same mic placement.

The amp sounds killer........... So is it just me, or are the feet not in the same place on each side? They seem like they aren't even close really.

Sounds great

Your rhodes should be coming soon
Btw what options did you get
Did you go 6l6 or 34s

The feet are not in the same spot on both sides because of the offset chassis screws. Had to do it that way.

Heh I knew I wasn't going crazy......... erm crazier!

I don't think the Diezel will last long. The Camerons & even the Steve Stevens is just way more up your alley........that 80's stuff needs sag

Got a request on YouTube to do a raw channel 2 clip...this is really raw.

Using SM57 with CAA212 V30s.

Are you using something other than V30s in your other clips?
