NAD. The JVM sucks? Clip added LOL..

You should post more clips. I like the tones you're getting a lot more than most of the modded Marshall/variac etc clips.
Thanks a million for the vote of confidence. I read so many harsh comments and critique of people tone and playing that posting a clip was a bit nerve racking. I just recorded the clip to try out the OX and a MacBook Air which II recently got. first attempt and it sounded better than I expected it would so I posted it. I really appreciate the nice words and will be less intimidated to post clips in the future.

I had two JVM410H. The last one I had broke.
I like the amp, especially the gain channels.
I didn’t like the crunch or the clean channel, however.

I hear ya. The crunch does not have the clear, punchy, bark of an 800 or JMP. Sometimes I think blah and others it sounds good enough, considering the versatility, features and new pricing.

In my experience the lower gain crunch tones (like an 800) are more convincingly atrained on the OD1 and OD2 channels in green mode with moderate gain, or orange with very low gain. And the "plexi" truck on OD2 red with almost no gain is very real and extremely cool.

I recently saw a pretty good demo by a guy that was hitting those channels with various overdrive pedals, and I have to admit, that’s what those channels needed , and then they sounded great.

I have not tried that yet for crunch tones. Thanks for the tip. That "plexi trick"others have posted is what I did for this clip .. more or less. I have a Plexi and it definitely sounds better at THAt tone, but the JVM version of that tone on OD2 Red is pretty damn decent imo, and the OX probably neutralized the differences to a degree.

I will try that more. I play a bunch of Rush tunes and the clean and crunch modes do those tones pretty good. The smear factor kinda works good on some of it, because Lifeson did not have the most articulate tone... the wide flub of those channels kinda works in a weird way. but..... yeah the right boosts could really tighten things up and breathe some life into those channel.

What failed on your second JVM? I remember you posting about that, and was in the back of my mind when I bought mine. But it is new so I took the chance.

Thanks Dan. I shy away from posting or making cause the audience seems ruthless here and I cant think of anything worthy to play.

Dude you've got great chops what are you talking about?
Congrats on your JVM.
I could never gel with them so I like to see other people that do :dunno:
HNJVMD

Thanks man. Too kind but much appreciated! Cheers!

I had one before and I liked it but sometimes I would hear a sterile component to the tone and others not so much. Same goes this time, but my ears are hammered. and half the time so am I. LOL.. It is fun to play that is for sure.. Is it the be all end all of Marshall tones, not really, but man. I am enjoying the hell of it for what it is.. Sounds great at low volume. I think it is when it gets loud toe to toe next to "real Marshall" that it may fall behind??

Thanks again for the generous compliment.

Sounds good Jason. JVM’s are cool amps. Some modes are way too much gain for me, but with a different guitar/ pickups etc might be great.
I liked OD2 Orange alot. Recorded a bunch of clips of it back in the day.
Your clip sounds good, keep at it.

Thanks a lot man, you are a kick ass player with discerning ears from I have gathered so I really appreciate the nice words. I remember an old Mob Rules clip you did way back. probably HCAF days iirc. Thanks again. and yes. the JVM has way too much gain. od 1 never goes past 10 or 11 and OD 2Red gain is almost off with channel volume dimed. that's is the sound in this clip. Amp turns to mush with gain much higher.. to my ears anyway Crunch channels need some tighter gain and a bit more of it. OD channels need way less gain with more gradual taper. Thx again.. cheers..

I’ve been looking at another JVM to put on top of my Friedmann 1x12s

The old one is gone, you don’t wanna know what happened to it🤣

I can take it. Did I read you were so pissed you threw it out in the trash? LOL. That is as bad as me. UPS fucked up my Uberschall I bought from Kage way back when so I pile drove it into the ground if you recall. I dont have a weak stomach!

I know that amp very well, had MM trannies,
tube swaps, mods…

Really a groundbreaking piece of machinery.
The foot switching system is one of a kind
The pots on the front are also like micro-cameras snapping shots of where you set your pots.

It’s like the RoadKing in the function of it’s
really 2 sides of the same amp.
Clean/Cleaner 1 side
Mean/Meaner 1 side

Come them negative feedback controls and tune the rest in to melt the face.
The Satch one was dooe AF.
But like everything g, the mid-gains were good AF and the super-cruncher’s weren’t as good as the 410H.
I actually wanted the fake Reverb over the gates also.
There’s also some killer JTM-45 sounds in Channel 2.
The clean channel takes fuzzes extremely well also.
That EH Corgan fuzz was rad with it, with the
410H.
Sounds ridiculously good with H30XV30 mix.’The Ace mix with it.
