So, never had a Rectifier and wanted to try it after thinking about moving my Jp-2C.

Picked one up for a steal on reverb in Mint condition.

I had had a Mark III, Mark V, Mark V:25, so I am familiar with dialing in Boogies.

Took me about 45mn to get it dialed in. Using just an SD-1 and a Noisegate I was getting a CRUSHING metal sound. I mean, much closer to what I hear in my head then any other Boogie. Thick and saturated. JP-2c JP-2c is very hollow sounding in contrast. This wasn't. Even my GF commented on how great it sounded compared to my other gear (and I subject her to my guitars and amps in our living room on a daily basis, so she is familiar with all my amps).

Ran it thru a Splawn 4x12 with Creamback 65's and Emminence small blocks in X pattern. My 2017 SG Standard sounded stellar thru it (gave it some nice bottom end). 2018 LP, Jackson USA all sounded GREAT. Haven't even an EQ in the loop yet.

I bought this with the intent to flip or trade, but it is staying for a while and the JP-2c is going on the market this weekend.

I know the Recs get a bad rap (especially the 3 channel non multi watt Triples.), and believe me, there are plenty of bad, fizzy, brittle thin sounds to be had, but when you get it right, it's a monster.

I play mostly 80's metal, classic rock, 90's metal/rock. Other amps are a Chupacabra, DSL40c (moving this weekend to be replaced by a Ceriatone Son of yeti for moving around.

I have been officially RectumFried!

Awesome! Congrats!

Like you, I'm a late comer to the Recto game. Just picked up a like new mint MW dual recto a couple months ago on a trade and was blown away how awesome it is. Eq in the loop and a clean boost from a ts9 type pedal and stand back. Brutal grind for sure, can't believe as a metal player I waited so long to try one of these.

Congrats! All the versions of the Triple Recto I’ve played are great.

Me and you both.

You probably won't like the EQ in the loop unless you mod it to serial. Even then, there is still some dry signal bleed at certain settings which causes issues with many effects. Channel 3, modern is my go to and unfortunately it has the most bleed. Channel 2, modern, with the presence maxed has no bleed yet doesn't sound as good to me.

When I can turn my Rectifier up it becomes glorious all on it's own. Unfortunately 95% of the time I can't.

I also had a III and V. They don't quite deliver the goods for me either.

congrats. the rectos are legend for a reason. I love my evh for brutal stuff, but a boosted recto is just glorious, and once you get one dialed in at volume, you wont need the eq in the loop. those eq's are capable of a lot of significant shaping.

Awesome. I was a Mark snob until I picked up an old 2 channel triple recto, and then I started selling my Marks. That amp is THE crushing metal sound in my head. Even more so than my IIC++. A triple recto with an 808 out front and a good noise gate pumping through a V30 full stack IS THE SHIT.

With my 2 channel I use my 5 band EQ in the loop only for a solo boost. With my 3 channel it's good to go as-is.
