Naked or APC mod

Does anybody here had the naked mod or APC mod done on an amp. I don't even know if Dave does this mod. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the mod. I have the chance to pickup a Metro JMP that was built by George at Metro amps locally. I figured that would be a good amp to mod. I don't see much activity on the forum about the naked. If anyone can give any insight I would appreciate it.

Dave does do the mod. I've owned an APC mod and currently own an actual Naked. Don't know whether or not it is my memory or if it is actually fact (as I never had them both at the same time to a/b them) but I definitely think my Naked sounds better than the APC mod I had. Both sound FANTASTIC though, you'll be more than happy either way. To put it simply, Dave is the man.

I also have a fully Friedman Modded Jet City 20H on its way, can't wait to receive it!

Mainly just wanted to know if he did the mod. Does anyone know the cost? I have only heard a couple clips of the amp and really sounds great.
Do you guys think it would be a good amp to pair up with a Friedman. I have my Metro plexi at Dave's now getting the KS mod.

Is the naked a tighter amp? How about low end and mid freq? How much gain is on tap?

I think the mod itself cost me around $850, my actual bill was higher because he did some service work to it while it was there, plus he had to remove an already installed mod so I'm not 100% sure of the exact price of the mod itself but that should be in the ballpark. I think you can get it without the clean channel for a little less too. I had mine done very recently so I would assume it's still available.

I have an '80 JMP 50 watt with the Brown Eye/JBE mods and they pair up really well. It has more gain than the Brown Eye mod and maybe not quite as much as the JBE but pretty comparable. Probably not far behind the JBE, BE + Sat., or HBE mod as far as gain level goes (if at all). The preamp voicing is a lot smoother on the APC, The BE has that classic Marshall midrange, the midrange on the APC is much more subdued but you can still hear a little bit of "Marshall" in it. The low end is really tight on the APC and there is lots of it. It handles dropped tunings very well, but sounds good with pretty much any type of music. The clean channel sounds really good too.

It's a fun amp to play for sure, I was surprised by how versatile it was when I got it, it's not just for heavier/dropped tuning stuff (although it does that very well). I'd imagine a metro is an excellent candidate for a mod too.

I don't know if there are any additional tweaks/mods that can be done on the APC mod, you'll have to check in with Dave on that. He had a few cool ideas for my 50-watter that I never would have thought of so maybe there is something he can do with the APC as well. I do know that the APC clean is different than the Simple Clean though.

Thats a wonderful platform amp for having it modded. You should e-mail Dave directly as I'm sure he will answer your questions. I had that same amp at my studio for a month before Todd Youth picked it up. Absolutely devastating. One of my favorites from George. Jesus, Dave modding it. My god, balls, balls, balls. Congrads on a great buy!
