natas or mako mak 4

Both.

Either.

Neither.

Try asking a more general question next time.
We can't help you when you really nail down the specifics about your rig, style of playing, and what you want the amp to accomplish.

I will tell you one thing: the MAK4 alone sure isn't loud enough to cut through a band mix.

thrash deth style but i like rich harmonics surrounding each note

I owned the Mak 4 and played the Natas. I think I'd rather have the Natas but it's like 4 times the price. Both are super tight amps. I found the Mak 4 lacking in the low end for my tastes. I had an early one and I read that subsequent versions were improved. Not sure if that's true or not.

Since Andrew added some heaviness to the Mak4's bass taper, it's a serious heavy hitter. I mean it - this thing rips faces off on the Dorado channel. I can't imagine it getting heavier than this, and all the while, holding some serious girth underfoot.

Just sayin', the Mak4 is a sick sick preamp. I run mine through a 2/90/2 into a Deliverance 4x12, and it's outrageously tight, hard hitting, and pounding.

I own a mak 4 and have never played a NATAS but in answer to your question I would guess the NATAS based on clips. The Mak4 would win hands down for crunch tone and versatility in my book. You asked about "heaviness". The dorado channel is plenty heavy but I rarely use it. I get a ton of tone out of the crunch and makoplex channel and I play a lot of classic rock, 80's and country. Yes, it even kicks ass for country. The mak4 is very sensitive to the power section you are running. If I was going for heavy I'd run it through a 6l6 or KT88 power amp with pleny of headroom. As it is, i'm running it through at 50W el34 power section and it KRRRAAANNNGGGSSS all day long.

Hold on a second. You can't get a "thrash deth w/ rich harmonics" with any of those amps in your sig???

Yah V, but if you simply had a Diezel Herbert you'd be roller skating down Venice Beach and you’d never knew that a kid like you could take his mic around the world and flash the big S.D. And rock the masses, from Madrid to Calabasas Tijuana, Mexico, bootleg demos in Tokyo...just saying. :)

POD's not using a Herb in that tune, are they??

Hey, we all hear different things man... I've played a Herb, and I dig, I dig. But I don't love it for the shiznit I be throwin' down, dig?? ;) The Dorado, OTOH, is kind of like the evil stepchild that no one talks about... Like your very own Damian Thorne. You don't really wanna flaunt it, and it's really only desirable in certain situations. But when it is needed, it's brutalistic

Get both and sell one, Also the Natas+Mako is not that different in price then just Natas..

The Mak 4 would be more versatile, wouldn't it?

The Natas is more versatile than what it is billed to be, may be one of the biggest headroom clean channels on a switcher just for starters.

Cannot compare the two cause there is no power amp like the Natas power section due to the iron and I have never heard a Mak4 clip that sounded as tight as the Natas, sorry but not even close.

That said they are different pieces of gear, you have to try them both or listen to clips and go blind without playing. The natas also is the ultimate thrash amp imo, just razor sharp and the pre and post tone shaping controls are sick.

SOME builders really loved the idea...............................
