I can finally post this as a NBD. From a previous thread I was bitching about how UPS throws shit & the bass was damaged in shipping. I finished up fixing it earlier today. It's not perfect but a lot better than a piece of wood missing.

About the Bass, it's a Deluxe M-880 Explorer style with natural finish. It's made of maple, walnut and ash with a maple neck. This goes with the other Hondo guitars I have. They're not worth a whole lot and definitely not a collectors item, but at some point after have a couple I decided to get the whole set of them that have the same wood laminate design. This is the 2nd to last one I needed. Now I just need to track down a the strat with 3 single coils. It came with flatwounds on it. I don't care for them much so I'll need to put new strings on it at some point. Overall it plays really good.

First, here are the before & after of the the repair. Like I said not perfect but it'll do and isn't noticeable from across the room.

I’d rock every single one of those

Considering most Hondo's you see out there are low quality, these are all pretty solid guitars. The original pickups aren't that great, so an upgrade was in order. I've put Duncans or DiMarzios in most with the V having GFS and Star with a Gibson 59. Though they're pretty comfy to play, straight as an arrow, and have fairly low action, the necks aren't made for high speed shredding. They're as thick as a baseball bat. I think Hondo may have contracted Louisville Slugger to make them LOL!
