Grabbed my buddy's 1960B for $240, already knowing that I'm not a big fan of the G12T-75s. So, I'm thinking either toss my two 16 ohm Weber Gray Wolf's in there and do the X-Pattern thing since they're very similar to V30s (only less spikey) and I know that's a good mix, or go with something totally different..Creambacks, H30s. Not sure.

Next question; if I go the new speaker route, should I go with 8 ohm speakers and wire it series-parallel?? I believe it's currently wired stock as parallel-series with 16 ohms.

Here she is-a little beat up but for the price I couldn't pass it up!:

Get 16 ohm speakers to mix with the stock. The V30 (or variant) and T75 mix is great. I would hard wire it with a real jack though. If it still has the stock Maarshall PC board, gut that crap and hardwire a real jack.

Enjoy it, man! HNCD!

Cool, thanks. You're not the first i've heard say that, about bypassing the pcb. Definitely will do that! Going to try the X-pattern with my Webers when I get motivated and if it's not doing it for me, I'll probably off the 75s and try some Creambacks.

BTW, what MTS3200 mods did you have done?

Replaced the OT with a handwound one from Triode Electronics, added a choke, replaced all the caps with SoZo vintage spec and JJs in the power section, lifted all the diodes from the gain path, changed values in the EQ to flatten it out, modded the clean channel to a Fender circuit, and replaced resistors to reduce hiss and make it all work. Practically rebuilt the amp. It sounds great through V30s or Greenbacks, but it doesn't like T75s so much.

Sounds cool! I have one laying around that I sometimes use as a power amp for my PodHD (pod into fx return) but I've thought about having it modified...

One more quick question about the cab; can I just use one of the existing jacks when I hardwire it to 16 ohms, or should I buy a new one. Just a mono, 2-terminal jack? Thanks again:)

It's easier just to buy new a new one. If you use the plastic ones that come with it, you'd have to desolder it from the board and solder to pins. Go get a Switchcraft jack. It's better, lasts longer, and it's easier to solder fat speaker wire to the terminals. That's how I do it.

That x mix should sound great. If you do want to change. I'd go for either 65's quad or Scumback.

Have always wanted to try both lol..

I like 16 ohm as well. More options. :)
