Hard&Heavy

New member
I just received my new Stoneage 4X12 loaded with creamback 65's and it is by far the best cab rear loaded cab that I have ever played bar none!! And I've played a few over the years. The build quality, wood and time put into these cabs is unreal!!!!!

There will be another ordered very soon with v30's to the same spec... I will get a pic up very soon.

Looks like a 70's marshall cab with the checkered grill cloth..

And John is an Outstand guy to deal with!!!

Hey thanks for the great words, hard&heavy....glad you're digging your cab, and it was my pleasure building it for you. Lead times this year have been very long, so your patience throughout my build was greatly appreciated!! Per your request, pix attached, from conception to delivery   !

yours is in there someplace

All covered in OM black elephant & large check

Some kick-ass Creamback G12M's

Gotta love a great rear shot

Beautiful cabs. John, do you find a tonal difference whether the center post is screwed in (through the back panel) or if its not screwed in ? One of my Bogner cabs has the center screw, and that one is a bit tighter and punchier than the one without it. thanks.

Had a 4x12 a few years back. Definitely my favorite. Don't hesitate if you're considering them.

Yes, I do, especially when pushing a cab hard, screwing the rear panel to the post can be very beneficial. Just as you mention, tighter/punchier is the benefit. That is assuming, though, the post is properly fitted to the cab, no worries there for you because Bogners are very well built!

These cabs simply can't be beat. I have ten (yep, 10) of these 4x12 cabinets that I've purchased over the last several years from StoneAge, and I now have four more on the way. I still have every one of them. These cabinets are extremely tight, punchy, clear, composed, and focused, up to insane volumes. My other cabinets collect dust and my StoneAge cabs get used constantly. We also run these cabs in a pro studio environment.

And the icing on the cake is, they look fantastic, every bit as good as they sound. I've used these with both modern and vintage speakers, and it all works great across the board. It is extra cool not just that YOU get to pick the colors and styles, but that you also get to choose the grill cloth, which DOES alter the sound of the cab. StoneAge uses the real genuine marshall issue grill cloth, and it is all very different. The heavy cane or salt n pepper basket weave shaves off some highs and makes the cabs really smooth, very late-'60s. The reissue bluesbreaker pinstripe, checkerboard, and plain black weave are all thinner cloth, so the cab is a little brighter and more aggressive, more 70's or 80's sounding. I have real vintage m cabs and the StoneAge cabs sound every bit as good or better, and hold up better under really high volumes. They are simply a superior build and better materials, yet keep enough of the core vintage styling and components to have the "right" feel and sound.

You will also NEVER see a better packed cabinet, OR get better customer service. In the last 10 shipments, I haven't had a single damaged cabinet. StoneAge packs these things for a nuclear blast. They are totally lined in two or three inches of high density foam which is fully inside an oversized uber heavy duty shipping carton. I've received boxes that were ripped and also poked into nearly 3" all the way in by a sharp object, by the shipper in transit, and yet NO damage to the cab.
