Just picked it up tested it and on my way to work. Here’s a quicky

Those speaks sound really good.. not dark at all

Cool man. I ran through a phase where I tried just about every 4x12 I could find. An early 80s 1960a with G12-65s was the keeper for me.

What is the Full Wattage of that Cab? Those sound SO Good! What Years did they make Marshall Cabs with the G12-65's?

According to The Marshall book, '79-'83. Cab wattage should be 260 although some were mislabeled by Marshall.

Those are Marshall labeled 65s, put in 1978-79 1960 cabs. The 1982 cabs(not year) came with Marshall labeled G12 80s, also nice. The Marshall labeled 65s are brighter and have the 3120 code. The reissues are based on a darker version from the 80s and have the 3054 code. But you can eq both versions to sound the same by adjusting treb/presence.
Cab wattage is 260. But, be careful when looking for one at GC or elsewhere. Many marshall cabs with the 260w tag have G12 M70s. Gotta look inside first to make sure.
I've heard many 65 cabs and they all kill with a Marshall, even the bass cone versions.
Congrats on the cab!

^^also, supposedly there were over 40 versions of the 65 from 1978 till 83 when they were discontinued for the M70s. Ugh. Someone should have been fired over that decision.

I've got a couple of the 1979 cabs with the G12-65's in them. They're great speakers.

I used to own the matching JMP 2203. It and my 1960A were the basis of my sound for years and years. Sadly I sold the 2203 several years ago for some reason......wish I still had it!

old cabs are sexy beasts.

congrats on what seems to be a deal-for-real.

If i had walked in, they'd wanted 1k for the dam thing....

They are my fav speaker with any amp..2203, 2C++, SLO....they just work with them all. Even over V30s with the C++. Don't be afraid to buy the heritages..they are spot on.

Right Now i'm using the Marshall 1960BHW with the Heritage G12H30. Are the Heritage G12-65 Spot on to the 70's version or the 80's Version.

80s. They sound identical to an 83 Marshall cab I used to have. The T code is 3054 with the heritage, same as my old Marshall cab. The 78-79 version were 3120s, much brighter. Brighter than my 78 Blackback H30s.

Cab sounds great. I am getting a little bit of a rattle coming from the plastic handles being riveted. Any best practices for dealing with this?

So all 4 speakers tested ok with no coil rub? If so I think you got a good deal, I paid that for an JCM 900 B cab w/t75's a few years ago. Not much you can do about the handle rattle, the plastic is dry and brittle because of age and the rivets loosen up. I think Scumback has replacement metal handles that fit exactly if he is still having them made.

No coil rub that I could tell and I was pushing some pretty good air last night. As for handle I got that under control last night as well. Clear silicon work wonders for dampening and is not permanent. Even applying in between crack in the pastic works great. And also in the seem of where the handle meets the cup
