Please don't say the Aldrich neck pup :poke: :) .

What are you guys using in your LP's? Looking for a singing lead tone and decent cleans...

One of my LPs does have the Aldrich set. I do find the Aldrich neck to be a great neck pickup with gain.

My other LP used to have a sad jazz neck and Aldrich bridge. That was a pretty good combo. This guitar is a '73 lp custom which always sounds mean and found the Aldrich a bit too much. Would have kept the jazz in but decide to start fresh.

I have a Dimarzio 36th PAF in the neck of my Agile LP. The bridge pup used to be an Aldrich and is now a Super D. The 36 neck pup sounds great. I really like it combined with the bridge pup. Very smooth sounding and clear.

I usually try to keep neck pickups a little more on the vintage side, even if the bridge is really high output (like an Aldrich). If the bridge is a slightly overwound PAF type of a thing, I'll go with a vintage PAF type of pickup in the neck. If it's a hotter pickup like the aldrich, I'll go with a slightly overwound PAF in the neck....if that makes sense. Maybe a pearly gates from Seymour Duncan.

What don't you like about the Aldrich neck pickup?

It's not that I don't like it. I bought a used Aldrich bridge pup and there are no used neck pups to be found. I refuse to buy new lol.

I have an Epi LP Custom that I put an Aldrich bridge into, then threw a Gibson Burstbucker 2 bridge pickup in the neck. I have to say it sounds awesome in there and pairs up well with the Aldrich.
