I'm running a dual amp setup In a rack, and have always used the ISP decimator when using a single amp but now need one to run in both loops. What works here? ISP pro rackG? Please chime in!

anytime i need a noise gate i always go right to the ISP products. IMO they still make the best one at a reasonable price.

That's kinda of what I was thinking, but wasn't entirely sure it would work for both amps. I just put together this dual amp setup so there's alot going on. I know it's stereo but read somewhere that it is intended for the loop and out front, hence 2 channels. The Marshall is pretty tolerable but the Elmo can get a little noisy at high volume due to massive gain.

The Marshall and the Elmo compliment each other quite nicely though, it sounds quite RIDICULOUS in fact. Sounds Huge!

I'm coming to your house when you sleep tonight and stealing your rig.....

Get the stereo modded version it is different than the standard.

Is the noise the same as when using the amps stand alone? If it is noise generated from grounding issues from using two amps, you are better off to suss that out first and fix it than to cover it up with a noise gate. You will loose so much of your tone doing it and nothing will take it out completely.

Damn neeklaus, hope you got assistance, cause that shits heavy!!!!

Thanks everyone, I'll look into all of these! The elmwood on it's own is noisy enough that I will need a gate of some sort but I do have quite a bit of hum to trace back through as well which could be a number of things

Definitely check stuff out. The Elmwood here at the shop is dead quite.

sounds like you might have a ground loop? (in addition to the Elmwood noise)
maybe lift the ground on either/or?
I run into loop issues every time I use more than 1 amp, the splitter I use has a ground lift thats absolutely kills the hum
just a thought ;)

dBX quad noise gate, probably the best.

That's why I got one for my rack because I saw it in Metallica's racks.

1074 is the only way to go.

Yeah I always thought the Elmo was fairly quiet. It probably is mainly a ground issue.

Hell yeah I saw that. But actually I used one in the studio and
it was flawless,it can be setup to where it's super sensitive or
not at all, didn't suck tone either.
So I ended up buying one used. And I love it.
Doesn't Hetfield use a Behringer now?
