Hey guys,

I just picked up a Mesa F-100 and am looking at routing options now. I want to be able to switch to clean/lead and have various effects automatically switched on or off. Since the amp is non-midi, I need something that can handle this.

How about the GRX4? Will this work?

I'm new to this whole world. I'm a pretty simple guy when it comes to my rig, I just need some assistance. Thanks!

I love my GCX, it works absolutely flawlessly for exactly what you are trying to achieve.

I bought a used GRX4 for $200 and it works like a charm

Thanks dudes!

I guess I need to control this with a midi footswitch eh?

Is there anything out there that doesn't have a zillion switches and not a huge footprint?

thanks!

Those are the smallest that I know of Joe but It depends on your needs; What kind of switching do you want to do? The ones I mentioned are best for straight up program/Preset Changes

Pretty basic stuff man. I will simply be switching channels on the Mesa, but want to have a patch for say just delay on the gain channel, just delay on the clean, dry gain channel, dry clean, maybe a vibe/chorus, we'll see.

Awesome, thanks for the help everyone!

The Axxess actually looks perfect for what I want. So I would need a switcher and the controller correct?

How would I integrate the amps channel switching into this? It would need to be the same type of cable right?

If you're just wanting to switch the amp's channels get this...

then all you need is a cheap midi pedal, assuming you're using a rack processor for FX

This might be too simple for you, but the Radial Loopbone will switch your amp channels if its just a 1/4" jack for 2 channels. I use to run it with a reverb pedal always on the clean channel then switch to dirty dry. Basically its 2 loops+boost, when you use the slingshot to switch channels, 1 loop is always active for that channel. Or you can assign the slingshot to channel switch with the boost button and have both fx loops open. Pretty flexible, cool pedal. I have one that I might sell cause I'm not using it at all and don't have an amp that it will switch channels on. My big rig is midi and I just don't use many FX @home to warrant keeping the loopbone really.

Hey man, Talk to Jerry P he can make you something up.....

One of my good friends just gave me a Rockman Octopus to switch my CAE 3+ SE. I was extremely excited because I only had a single switch at the time, and was only switching between 2 channels, 1 & 2 or 1 & 3, and not using the active EQ. I set the Octopus up with my ADA MIDI footpedal and was fairly disappointed. I am noticing a small "pause", for lack of a better word (maybe you guys have a word already coined for this), when I switch channels. You could live with it but it really bothers me. I don't remember a pause using the mechanical switch.

I bought a Sound Sculpture MIDI Crosspatch MC-8 back in 1990 for $600 and the F'in thing never made it to the stage because of a LARGE pause in the sound between patches (I've heard that the newer ones don't do this......I wonder how many of us paid to fund that R&D). Is this inherent to switching with MIDI?

I've been tempted to buy the RJM Effects Gizmo, I can deal with ground loops, but I can't take this pause.

Does anybody have a switcher that gives an instantaneous result?

Theres also the carl martin octa switcher- pretty straight forward...rocbox is good, axess stuff and bradshaw stuff is getting better, loopmaster has some cool stuff out-priced reasonably...but i go by " you get what you pay for"....theyre all good!!!!!

The word is latency.
