80's thrash, to drop-D, chunky rhythms, to Gary Moore Blues, and classic Rock. A real, ALIVE lead tone is crucial as well. Something harmonically rich. It's asking alot for $700, but, I know it can be had.

The Carvin Legacy is on the radar, but I don't know if it can be as tight as I would like, with an EQ in the loop, and boost in front?? Can't TRY one!!

Another DSL, is what I think I need. I'd like to get a Laney VH100R, but they're out of my budget/price range. I've seen some Laney TT's pop up somewhat cheap, but can't try one of those, either..The GH50L's is another, (I've owned 3), and that's a SMOKIN amp, but I don't think it has the versatility.

The only other one that I think would do, is a 6505+, but, again, not sure of it's versatility..I've owned a 5150, but not a II/+.

HELP me out, guys. For what it's worth, I have an arsenal of pedals - EQ'S, OD's, Sonic Stomp, etc...Also have a stock-pile of preamp tubes, from JJ's, to Tungsols, to Mullard RI's, EH, GE, and others..

Don't count out the RM100 or RM4, you're looking for a pretty wide pallet of sounds. the RM100 has the serial and parallel effects loops also, am running an ISP Decimator ProRack G and a TC Gmajor into them and am pretty happy with the way it handles.

Don't think you can get a loaded RM100 or RM4 loaded with modules (and in the RM4's case a power amp) for this budget. Not to mention spending money to get the modules modded or paying more for already modded modules (could cost 200-250 per module alone) Most of the stock modules really need some work to compete with some of the amps already listed, at least imho.

Might have been the case a year ago, unfortunately the bottom has dropped out of the MTS stuff and it is slow to move. Randall didn't keep the line up interesting enough. I'd bet you could pick up a used RM100 for 700 bucks with a couple of decent modules included.

You could probably get a line 6 spider valve head for that.. Not a boogie or a triple x or a 6505 plus but still pretty decent for the money..

gtfo of here with that line 6 bull shit god i hate line 6 amps

Both the DSL or the MK III would be great.

I own both, and feel that the DSL with a Boost, overall,
cuts better and has a little more Character than the MK III.

Boogie .50Cal

+1!

I did a two-nighter with a Metallica tribute band, and used my .50 Cal+
It`s a GREAT amp, and you can have it for less than 700 in the US.

Plenty loud, tight, great gain channel. The only thing is that when running the preamp volume (gain control in essence) over 6-7, the clean channel isn`t that clean anymore. I used the neck pickup and rolled off a little volume on the guitar. Worked like a charm.

Yea, don't overlook the .50Cal+, I picked my last one up for $450.00, took it to a tech and had basic maintenance done to it, plus new caps (it's 20years old, about time!) and have about $600.00 into to it. If you use the lead channel with the gain dimed your clean channel will sound like Angus Youngs tone, but if you roll back the gain to 5-7 and use a boost your cleans will be fine since both channels are shared.

Thats cool. I sported an RM4 and RT2/50 for a bit, was a money pit. I ended up going back to a head for weight reasons (and a little bit of sound)

mark iii
dc-5
Peavey ultra plus
Jet City JCA 100/50
possibly the Blackstar HT-Venue series, supposed to be shipping soon.

I can't believe I forgot to suggest it, my most recent acquisition, an ADA MP-1 and Marshall 9005 would do this too. :D And in your price range no less.
