Need build opinions. Another Charvel Nitro Clone.

The main question is to ring or not to ring. I picked up this unused MJT heavy relic Roasted alder Charvel body, German Floyd and a set of FU PMS (Pickup Mounting System) on the cheap and am doing another clone. Will have brass Floyd fine tuners. Will have brass switch and tip, knob and strap buttons. Will have another Musikraft roasted Birdseye neck.

Should I go direct mount with the PMS or go traditional with the rings?

Eh, with the recessed Floyd it kind of loses the vintage look a bit, so I'd say just go direct mount if that's where you're leaning. Otherwise I think a classic style Charvel really needs the rings to get the vibe, but that's just personal taste.

I'm sure whatever you come up with will be better than a MIM Charvel with a Floyd Rose 1000.

Yeah. I got the classic thing covered with the last build. Although many of vintage guitars have been bastardized with reroutes, refins, mods, etc. I guess a good balance of well played comfy feel with modern appointments isn’t a bad thing.

I usually like rings but kind of like no rings on that one. Just curious, why 2 pickup routes but I don't see a switch?

It’s a new body, it needs to be drilled for volunteers and switch. The knob is just sitting there being held by gravity.
 
Killer, killer. I dig the ‘no ring’ look. And those Musikraft Birdseye necks are just gorgeous. Great project!

And the Custom Shop case is such a nice finishing touch!

I snagged a Charvel Art Series case from the Stripe series that has the ‘EVH’ logo embroidered in the lid and that’s where my Musikraft Bee lives. I’d love to find another case, but good luck now that the King is gone (!)

That case I got cheap because the previous owner had alot of tape residue and some dings. Goo gone is the best for getting that stuff off





 
Case looks beautiful! A couple of little nicks here and there just adds to the whole vibe. That blue interior with the embroidered Charvel Logo is just gorgeous. It’s possible that I was watching this exact case but didn’t bid quick enough to snap it up! If so, I am very glad to see where it landed!!!

It was only listed for 24 hours. Made a reasonable offer knowing the tape would come off.
