I know most of the talk on this forum is usually geared a little more "post pickup" but I was wondering if anyone here has done this to a strat.

I have a partscaster. Three pickup single/single/hum (Suhr FL's and an SSV). It has pretty simple wiring in it right now. All 300k pots with a push/pull volume to split the humbucker. What I want is a pair of Lollar Blackface (middle non-RWRP) and a DSV bridge wired in this baby with an Ilitch Backplate system. I've looked everywhere for a scheme with a series/parallel bridge humbucker but I can't find one. Here is what I am thinking:

Pos#1: Neck
Pos#2: Neck + Mid in parallel
Pos#3: Middle
Pos#4: Mid + Split Coil Bridge in parallel
Pos#5: Bridge Humbucker in parallel

Position#6: a blower switch that just runs the humbucker in series.

I'd still want the volume on this. Tone maybe? If there is a 6 position super switch that does this with out needing the blower I might be cool with that as well. I just don't want a push/pull knob. I have it on this guitar already and on my LP's for parallel/series. On the strat it's a pain in the ass.

I am also wondering how to have the Humbucker see a 500k volume (and tone) and the singles would see 300k or 250k volume. I'll love to have a Master Volume and for the Neck and Bridge to have seperate Tone controls but no Tone wired for the Middle Pickup at all. I know people have done this with a super or mega switch and/or a mini toggle (blower). But I don't know if this can this still work with the Ilitch/Fralin backplate system?

If anyone knows someone in Chicago (or nearby) that understands how to make this work let me know. I had a guy here in Chicago, Tim Schroeder, who did really good work on my guitars in the past. But for what ever reason I can't get a hold of this guy anymore.

If you do a search on this forum you should find the wiring diagram for the bridge humbucker at 500k, and the SC's at 250k. I wired my strat that way. I have one push pull pot (tone2) to split the bridge. The other push pull pot on the tone1 adds the bridge to any position. Edit: Here is a thread that has the diagram without needed a 5way super switch. Mine has a 5way super switch. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=96816

I have another SSS strat with the Ilitch backplate. Tone pot Push pull 2 there adds the bridge. Tone pot push pull 1 switches on and off the backplate. What I found with the backplate is that is that when you need it for higher gain to keep down the noise, it actually adds a little beef to the single coil. When playing clean or low gain where you don't need it much, I typically switch it out.

I would contact Ilitch on wiring, I am sure they will help.

I just came across this switch recently, it's a 6-way (i.e. 3-way x 2) that seems to have a lot of possibilities, see the wiring diagrams in the second link below. It's drop-in for traditional shaped 3-way switches, not the 5-way Strat style type so it'll work best if your guitar has a pick guard unless you're okay with drilling holes in a rear route guitar. The instructions have 13 pages of different configurations, one of them might work for you.

Thanks for the info.

I'm kind wondering if I should just have the bridge humbucker not even connected to the backplate? I only really want it for the single coils by themselves. I never split the humbucker and just use the single coil tap alone, only for the Bridge/middle in parallel. My main issue with most diagrams I see is it doesn't tell me if I can do the parallel/series switching on the blade. Also, doing the HB at 500k and spliting it with the middle at 250k might be a bit strident. Meaning I'd need the tone on the bridge leaving the neck without a tone knob.

I saw this and thought "This would be a great idea for my PRS." Beats the rotary knob. Though I wonder how durable that switch is shifting through it like gears on a car?

The switch should be durable, looks like a DPDT switch to me and those are pretty common.
