I got an offer on my KT88 equipped Splawn Nitro. Someone contacted me suggesting a straight trade for a VHT/FRYETTE Pittbull 50/CL.
I'm not sure what's fair here in terms of trade value. I'm looking for an amp that's high gain, heavily saturated and articulate/clear at high gain levels. Is that this amp? Also, if I decide I don't like it, what am I looking for on trade or cash resale value?

What would you guys do?

The CL50 goes for 1000 used. The Nitro goes for about 1400.

Well, that sucks then. I've had my Nitro in the classifieds for weeks under $1300 and I've gotten less than a handful of offers.

if the cl has the eq i would do the trade, it sounds like the cl is what you are looking for. and nothing is selling right now so you might as well get what you want

Just as posted the market is a slow as I have ever seen it.

That seems like a fair trade to me... My buddy has a CL100 with the EQ and it kills!!!

It does have the EQ. May need to get a boost of some kind though.

well I have an older Splawn QR and a 50 CL w/EQ+Reverb. I doubt you can sell the competition right now for $1400. Its probably around 1000-1100. I think it would be a fair/equal trade myself for the CL and I'd do it but I love VHT tone. Do you have the ability to try out the CL? Not everyone can get along with VHT stuff. The are great sounding, tight and unforgiving to a sloppy playing technique. They have clarity about them that I love, even with gobs of gain you can hear each note within a chord.

see if he'll throw in $100 cash on the trade. couldn't hurt to ask.

I tried to get him to agree to pick up the shipping on both amps and call it even. He seemed to dodge the suggestion. He's going by the new price but I see VHT/Fryette CL/50s sitting on forums for like $800 unsold.

neither are new so throw the new prices out the window ;)

the price is what the market will bear, right now its down. Your not going to get top dollar on used gear unless its rare and a bunch of different people want it.
