I'm playing in a pro-level cover band and some of our load in's involve flights of stairs and, not to mention, our soundman prefers the other guitarist and myself not to have a blaring stage volume. I'm looking to lighten my load with a pedal-friendly 1x12 combo. My current amp is 1968 AB165/AA864 Fender Bassman with a Avatar 2x12 cab loaded with Weber Legacy's which sounds insane - absolutely incredible tone and I love it but it's a bit much. My other guitarist uses a Bogner Barcelona so, ideally, I'd like something that doesn't sound exactly like his so we fill a larger sonic space. My budget is ~$1,500.

All feedback and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

An AC30 is a brilliant platform for covering lots of sounds with pedals.

Ac30's are very loud and if your used to the big round Fender tone you likely will grow tired of the AC30 mid heavy tone.

Try a Deluxe Reverb. Killer pedal platform and no better cleans.

A head and a 2x12 a bit much?

It should be much easier loading in (2) 40 - 50 lb pieces over one 60 - 80 lb combo amp?

But if you must i'd look at a Mesa MK III combo or even the Jet City Combo's which are basically Soldano Hot Rods

Yeah deluxe reverb with a Chandler Tube Driver.

Sorry the link didn't paste right. Just google Allen Hinds and Jackson Ampworks Newcastle and you can see all the vids.

Bogner Shiva

Also note that combos are heavy and not easy to move around. I'd rather carry a head on one hand and the cab in the other than a single combo but thats just me. I'd also be using a 4x12 in your situation but I'm from the 80's where overkill is what you do lol

I'm a Vox fanboi, (AC30, AC15, AC4), but I don't use them as a pedal platform (I only use a JangleBox compressor with my Vox tube amps).

I have a Fender tube amp (a custom Blues Jr.) I use as a pedal platform. It is lightweight, 1x12, if you mic it and have decent monitors, should be fine for live use.

I have a direct pedal board where I use a Liverpool pedal set clean as the amp, and I'm looking at other options (AMT preamp pedals, E2 or SS-30). If you would consider a direct board, AMT has JFET and tube based preamp pedals which can also be used as a preamp into a power amp....if you don't need tube power amp color, maybe a tube preamp pedal into a solid state amp like a Tech 21 Power Engine? I have a TwoNotes Torpedo CAB which is a great pedal for adding realistic (IMO) amp/cab into direct boards (and why I am looking at AMT preamp pedals).

Many options to explore if you want to lighten your gear.

It's hard to beat the Hot Rod Deluxe. Throw a Weber Legacy in it and go...

Fender amp or Mesa MK III combo.

The Mesa is 75-80 pounds  Make sure you have the R2 mod and you will have a great set up. I have actually been using my Mk III more than my Bogner 20th X.

The two amps that immediately came to mind have both already been mentioned...the Deluxe Reverb and the Shiva. If you don't need a whole lot of clean headroom and use pedals for your dirt, the Deluxe Reverb is a classic for a reason...simply a great amp. If you need a little more clean headroom and like have a dirty channel on your amp, the Shiva gets it done as well as if not better than just about anything out there.

Why not just get a 112 combo cab for your bassman and load in a 4ohm Weber legacy?

Other than that, lots of options for $1500 if you go used. Fender deluxe reverb, peavey classic 30, Bogner Shiva, Mesa mark III combo, Fender hot rod Deluxe. Not a Bugera fan, but the V22 gets good reviews, if you get one that works....

Mesa Mark, Marshall 4010, or Mesa Electra Dyne all would work pretty well.

Two Notes CAB and Wampler Black 65... forget the speaker.

We have a winner

Use the 1x12 for smaller gigs, and still have the option of picking up a 2x10 or 4x10 cab down the line for tonal flexibility. I also don't buy the combo=grab and go philosophy--head/cab is easier to carry and more flexible IMO.
