so i've got my Digitech Whammy pedal running in the loop of my GCX audio switcher and i'm controlling the GCX with the Ground Control Pro. I have an expression pedal (Ernie Ball Jr.) hooked up to the pedal 1 out of the GCP (insert point cable) and the midi connections are running like this:

Midi Out of the Ground Control ----> Pedal In of the GCX ----> Midi Out of the GCX ----> Whammy Midi input

i have enabled the pedal on the GCP and in Edit mode when i rock the expression back and forth the continuous control runs from 0 up to 127 or so. So the expression pedal is hooked up correctly and is functioning but it's not doing anything for the whammy.

what am i missing??

here are links to the manuals if that helps at all
Whammy - ftp://ftp.digitech.com/pub/PDFs/Manuals/Whammy.pdf
GCP - http://www.voodoolab.com/manuals/gcpro_manual.pdf
GCX - http://www.voodoolab.com/manuals/gcx_manual.pdf

Going from memory here. I'm assuming that you went into SETUP and DEVICES and added the whammy to the devices list with the proper MIDI Channel.

Press and hold EDIT

Scroll down to Pedal 1, select CC11 (should scroll through PITCH, AFTERTOUCH, and something else) Then cursor over, it will run through the list of selected devices, and select WHAMMY. Hit EDIT and save. Going from memory here, like I said. Refer the the GCP and Whammy IV manuals if this doesn't help.

yeah, i tried doing what you said but it still does nothing when i rock the expression pedal.

i added it as "WHAMMY" and i selected it from the Edit menu but still no luck.

What kind of cable do you have plugged into the whammy? Also, when you are in edit, and on the Pedal 1 slot, when you rock the pedal back and forth, do you see the numbers change?

i have a 5 pin midi cable going from the midi out of the GCX into the Whammy's midi in.

yeah, when i rock the pedal back and forth i see the numbers after P1 change from 000 to 127 (toe up to toe down)

Hope I'm not being redundant here, just checking everything. Do you have the MIDI channel the GCP is sending on set to the same that the Whammy is receiving on?

i think so, but i need to check that.

i think i might be getting confused when it comes to the Edit menu like:

P1.064 CTL007 (example on page 19 of the GCP manual)

pedal 1 is fine, the 064 is the current value which changes from 000 to 127 as i rock the pedal, but the CTL007 is where i might be wrong. what value should this hold? it can be "Off" "Pitchbend" "Aftertouch" or "Continuous Controllers". but what number would go with the CC? maybe that's it?

alright! finally got it!! i changed it to that CTL011 like you said in a previous post. i could have SWORN i tried that though

thanks for the help man, i really, really appreciate it

Dude, no problem. I keep getting confused between 007 and 011. I think 007 is for the on/off function, as I have an IA switch that turns the Whammy on and off on my board.

Glad things are working out, now go annoy some people!!!

Also glad I'm not the only vain guy who has a blue jewel light on his Dual Recto. Just ordered some SED =C= 6L6's that I'm gonna break in tomorrow. We just retubed 4 amps in preparation for the studio on Monday. An SLO100, Bogner Uberschall, the DR, and our bassist's SVT 2 Pro....talk about a lot of money!!!

haha yeah, i found some blue cold cathode tubes like they use in computer towers and lit up the inside of my recto so the blue jewel light was totally necessary

too bad the heat from the tubes never let the glue hold the cathodes in place
