So I just got a call and picked this up from a pawnshop I frequent and this thing is literally the best guitar I have ever touched in my life.

Something about it just sings and I need to know where it comes from, or if anyone knows where to point me.

Allegedly the guy who pawned it had it listed as an Anderson Body, hadn't played it in ages and brought it in for drug money...his loss = my gain.

Very heavy (8lb) Alder body
Maple neck with reverse banana headstock
stainless frets
Original German Floyd
Milled brass block
EMG 81
Schaller mini tuners
Crazy airbrushed / splatter B&W paintjob with a heavy clear.

No serial / no stickers / no markings however I haven't got the neck off yet.

Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated, as I have never seen a unique finish like this and the build quality is impeccable.

Interesting.
When I first scrolled down and saw the pics I thought to myself, that guitar looks familiar. Then I noticed you're in Az.
Has that guitar been played around here in the clubs in the last 25 years or so?

I am assuming so. It looks super familiar to me as well hence why I purchased without hesitation (that and it plays so amazingly)

I have seen a few different guitars with those old school kramer style headstocks. I have seen Gibson's, Ibanez's and ESP's as far as I can remember.

I was gonna say some ESP or GMW guitar.
Nice axe for sure.

Any way to tell if she's a real bowling ball finish? Backplate looks the same and after checking a few out that seems to be the case.

Electronic cavity is incredibly clean and looks like te Floyd cover was never drilled either.

It is definitely the best way! Very early serial number Tom Anderson with a faded pencil mark of the serial on the back of the neck. This morning is very pleasant indeed.

Looks like a Pat Wilkins bowling ball paint job. He's the one who did and still does them for Tom.
What is that serial number? The old TAs had them etched in the neck plate. He did start off by cutting bodies and necks before he made his own guitars. I'll bet that's where it's from. If you're on the TA forum you can ask him and he will promptly respond.

Here's mine...

Unfortunately the backplate isn't serialized, but it does have a serial in the neck pocket, as well as the same serial penciled on the neck.

I emailed TA this morning with some pictures, info etc. and hopefully will get something back eventually.

Thanks so much for picture of yours as well!

The paintjob in the close up pic looks like a hairy beanbag.

Maybe an early nineties pro am but I think the neck was changed.

I was gonna say Anderson too - great looking guitar! Jeff Young (ex Megadeth) used to play a couple of hockeystick head Anderson back in '88 or so..

That's funny my buddy just bought a few megadeth road cases out here from him a few weeks back.

Anderson made the parts but it wasn't an "Anderson" guitar. Pat Wilkins probably did the paint.
