I may be trading up for a Landry LS100 M...have only heard clips on YouTube...mostly 80's kind of stuff...but wondering if this can hit high gain "modern" territory? I know Landry has a G3 out that has a darker, more compressed feel...but wondering if the M will do the trick.

I got #1 of the LS100 M. I had him make it with 6550's. It serves my purposes well having blown an SLO and Bogner 101b into the classifieds.
If by 80's you mean stuff like Priest, Dio, VH, etc, the amp will do that stuff well IMO. There are a bunch of YT vids on the Landrys to check out

I've seen some of the clips, but nothing that highlights heavier riffs, so it's hard to tell if it will be enough for what I am after. I like a lot of gain, think Uberschall, Powerball, etc. Will it come close?

It's got alot of gain but if you're after thick Mesa Rectifier type tones, wrong amp. It reminds me of an awesome Marshall 800 series w/ better tone control and more gain
