I liked "Harvest Moon" the best. Not the album, the song. It's just a nice song. But if keep on rocking in the free world exemplifies rock music that would mean that rock music sucks, so I don't believe it exemplifies rock music.

Down by the river is my jam
That’s the 4th song in my Neil Young list.

I once watched David Surkamp do that song in a bowling alley when he was calling his band Memphis Underground. He had Steve Scorfina with him at the time. Steve was a friend of mine and the original guitar player for REO Speedwagon. Dave Surkamp was/is an arrogant cunt, even if he did do that Neil Young song mucho justice.

My old sludge band did a cover of Don't Let It Bring You Down. It is in C, so we played it in drop C all loud and sludgy. It worked.

None of my bands ever did any Neil Young that’s for sure, but I trotted those 4 songs out many, many times by myself in living rooms and bonfires over the years. Along with shit like Me You and Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Kodachrome, Wild Life by Wings and a shit ton of Beatles songs.

Cortez the Killer .

I always dug Neil’s jamming cowboy chords through distorted electric guitars bit, but his lead work is annoying and IMO would be better left to cats like Stephen Stills. It’s why I never cared for Cinnamon Girl that much even though the chord arrangement and melody is fantastic.

I would love to hear this

I practically grew up on this. My mom and dad played these (vinyl) all the time with a big dose of John Denver, and little dose of The Kingston Trio, Joni Mitchell, and Dylan of course.

Sister Golden Hair
Sandman
Baby's in Black
Norwegian Wood
Teddy Boy
Junk
In My Room
You Really Got a Hold on Me
Rocky Mountain High
Sundown
Carefree Highway

And on and on dude. I had hours worth of this shit and a beat to piss Epiphone acoustic. That guitar was rebuilt twice by a violin maker called Jeffery Seitz ( spelling?) up in the city before I finally retired it. I had it with me for the 2 years I was in LA and the year I spent in juvie. I still have it, but it's totally fucked. I moved on to an Ovation and eventually a now beat to fuck Ibanez AE10. The Ovation is in flawless condition and records very well.

Its certainly an acquired listen for sure . I have fond memories back in the day listening to this on the beach with an old boombox and getting stoned with some friends.
