Im sure this has been asked before but bare with me Im new, I just got the new American professional strat from GC, awesome guitar! but the humbucker stinks....any recommendations for a full sized bucker, leaning towards a Duncan, looking for something fat, Ill post pics later, thanks in advance....

I have three American Stratocasters with humbuckers. Two with the Suhr Aldrich and one with a Super Distortion (Black Strat). All three sound killer.

I might say I lean toward the Aldrich in my white, rosewood board Strat. Extremely fat and ballsy, but still retains clarity.

Wow those strats are killer! I forgot to mention that I wanna split the hum buckler as well, does the distortion and the super distortion sound decent split and or clean?

Went thru a few on my ash strat. Ended up with a Duncan Custom-Custom.

The only one I have split is the Aldrich in the white Strat and I never use it. Doesn't sound bad at all, in fact it sounds good, but I never use it.
When that guitar is on full humbucker through my Triple Rectifier and 2 4x12's it's thunder.

what do you guys think of a JB in a strat, does it sound OK in alder? I feel like the strat is thin sounding right now, Ive heard JBs in pauls and they sound good, not sure about a bolt on alder guitar, almost ready to pull the trigger...thanks again.....

Manlius "Modern Vintage" ! Big paf sound + split great and very good price without waiting time ...

I consider always the regular duncan custom being an option as well as I dig the ceramic character.

In my ash strat I use an Anderson H3, great sound and splits very well, the only alternative for that guitar would be a H2+ for having more details and clarity but less compression. My fernandes strat currently hosts a MCP Angel Dust, very nice and harmonic old school sound the guitar wins a lot but the pup deserves a better home.

But there are so many options out there ...

duncan distortion
+1

The low end chunk from this pick up is awesome. My favorite all around go to pick up (and this against Dimarzio Super Distortion and the Suhr Aldrich). You may consider series/parallel wiring for the humbucker instead of single coil, parallel sounds similar without the noise.

Lots of people seem to like custom customs in brighter guitars. Personally, I tend to prefer dimarzios, and the breed would work SUPER well in that guitar, IMO.

I don't own one, but I want a fat Strat with a Rio Grande BBQ in the bridge. Anybody else have this setup?
