My abbreviated, slightly drunken take on the Dokken classic.

Got to love the Vyper  I have the older model 15 watt somewhere. I think I picked it up in 2012 off amazon for $100 and it is what got me back in to playing guitar after a 9 or 10 year hiatus. Cool drunken clip!

Thanks FAKA! I had the 15 when it first came out, but it had this high pitched digital whine that I couldn't deal with so I got rid of it. So far so good with this one!

Good stuff!! I had a vip 2 for a long time and it was a kick butt little amp. I even used it for some acoustic gigs when I was subbing in on bass. Granted I had to disassemble the whole thing and put it back together using weatherstripping around the chassis and front baffle to eliminate all of the rattling.

Initially I wanted a dedicated acoustic amp, but with the Vypyr having electric, acoustic, and bass input options I decided to grab the PV instead. Thanks for the comments Will Onyx!

I played the fuck out of my VIP2. I used it cranked balls out for band rehearsals, My bass player used it for a few gigs when his amp went down and I used it for acoustic gigs for a while too. Sounds WAAYYY better than that POS Katana everyone carries on about. I just sold it last weekend to a local dude since I don't use it anymore just because I have a ridiculous amount of other amps around.

Thanks for sharing your experience Chris6870, much appreciated!

I have a VIP 2 as well. The thing punches way above it's weight IMO. Having it sitting in my office, not being worried about tube life, and sounding great at low volume really got me and kept me playing a lot more after a long break. Mine finally croaked after about 4 years while playing it at full volume with a drummer (had used it wide open several times before as well)- I turned it into a 1x12 cabinet and kept using it with a ksr ceres and a power stage. Probably the best $200 I've spent on gear, and a something I'd suggest to others as a cheap and small way to keep them playing more. Just casually flipping the thing on and playing while watching YouTube/whatever is great.

Congrats DBN

Clip was cool. I wish I I had a VIP version so I could do some acoustic stuff. How did you connect that up? Sounds good.

Do you have 2 cats or was that the same cat that circled around?

I have an OG Vypyr Tube 60. 2- 6L6 power tubes and one 12ax7 PI. I think it is for PI. 16" speaker. Pretty loud. Sometimes I get this amp going with others for a little extra fireplace low end.

And here is my abbreviated slightly drunk Vypyr clip from a long time ago...

PS: Had to take the fangs off :D

I loved my VIP2. The 6505 channel was just brutal and saturated. However, the digital control panel shit the bed after a couple years.

I was convinced there was a glitch in the Matrix when that cat kept reappearing from around that same corner. :D

It was easy to set up, I just selected the acoustic option and dialed in some chorus and delay. Thirty seconds later I was recording. I used the Zoom Q8 and a Blubird mic.

I only have one cat. He likes to stick his head in the hole on the back of the amp, but I guess it was a bit too loud for him in this instance.

I always wanted to try one of those tube Vypyrs. I came real close to pulling the trigger on one when they first came out, but there were so many complaints about them on the PV forum I decided against it. I just checked out your clip, good to hear some more Dokken on a Vypyr!

I haven't even plugged an electric guitar into this thing yet. Sounds like some good times are just around the corner!

Bluebird. Check

Yeah, there were a lot of issues with Vypyrs out of the gate until the updates hit.

I forgot to mention that I also kept the Zoom mics activated, so there are actually 3 mics in the mix.
