**I posted this at HCAF also but that site has cancer so I thought I would repost here**

This is my 4th Splawn. I still own three of them. I sold my 2009 Quickrod as I just could not jive with that amp. Well, this is round 2 with the QR. This is the low voltage B+ option that Scott has just released as an option. It runs at lower voltage ( think variac/EVH) so it is spongier and more forgiving. It also is not as powerful. My understanding is that it kicks out about 80 watts.

First......teh obligatory pics. These were on the Splawn FB site so I just shanked them as they are way better than what I was going to come up with.....

Looks sweet. Never have I seen a splawn with those cosmetics.

Great choice on the cosmetics!

Got mine last week too. Awesome amp! I went with plexi headshell w clear lexan panel, white piping, black faceplate and backplate and white knobs. Came out awesome! I feel like the new one sounds amazing at all volumes now.

Here's a pic of the rig!

Absolutely better volume control with the lower watts !

Love the clear lexan look !

Splawn is one of the few companies I haven't tried :dunno:

Looks sweet, HNAD!

congrats, that's one very nice looking amp right there

Never heard of the B+ option. Can you post a few clips?

Is it so complex, that this could not be a switchable option on the amp?

I had the same question - is it switchable?

I'm looking to order a quickrod in the next few months as well..

Love the cosmetics on that one. I wanted the black control panel on my Nitro but it was an early model so it wasn't offered yet.

Nope...it's an entirely different output tranny.

Its not switchable so when you order you need to decide which version you want. This new B+ option, or the regular Quickrod like they have always been.

If the new QR is anything like the model on the Axe FX, that fucker rips. It's my favorite right now. Got a huge growl to it. If I had known this, I would have bought one..... :D

Congrats on a FINE Amp.
Splawn Amps Kick Total Ass!!!
Fot that Aggressive, Old school,
Hot Rodded Marshallesque Tone,

The Quickrod can go from a 70's Plexi tone

Searing 80's (Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest)

How would you compare your OD100 with the QR as far as feel, tone, and versatility? I have been listening to some OD100 clips a lot lately and like what I'm hearing.

There's really not that much of a comparison
between the two. The QR is an extremely Tight,
Percussive, Midrange Monster that doesn't have
the Low End Thump or Saturation that the SE+ has.
The Custom Audio OD100SE+ has a Whomp switch that
regulates the amount of Low End you can add.
It also has a Feedback knob that allows the Amp
to be really Tight like a Splawn or VHT Ultra Lead
or really Spongey in the vain of a Bogner Uberschall to a
Mesa Recto. It's an entirely different Beast, that is
more versatile than the QR with a Fender Blackface
Clean channel (Crystal and Chimey)!!
The SE+ Overdrive has a Lower Midrange compared
to the Splawn, which is why I like to run the two amps
together....one picks up where the other doesn't, covering
the FULL Tone spectrum, to my ears.
I will usually choose two similar sounding Overdrives
with totally different Voicings that compliment one another
and run them together to create a Full, unique sound
that I think works well together.
