Got mine last week too. Awesome amp! I went with plexi headshell w clear lexan panel, white piping, black faceplate and backplate and white knobs. Came out awesome! I feel like the new one sounds amazing at all volumes now.

I have been messing with my 2011 Quick Rod with a variac since I first head about this B+ option. It does do something cool to the sound, but it also sounds cool at the normal voltage too so I have both available to me.

Very cool. I wish I had a newer QR to A/B to the b+ option. I love this QR and the lower output and feel of this amp is perfect for me. Its plenty loud but the sweet spot is more like 10 oclock than 9 oclock. I can push it easier. My 2008 Nitro is so loud that it should just have a volume switch instead of a knob.

Splawn needs to offer this as a switchable option, like Suhr does with the SL68. It would make for the ultimate QR. Scott does such a phenomenal job of listening to his customers that I imagine a switchable voltage option will happen down the line.

Any variac buying advice you can pass along? Brand/model/specs...

I doubt it would even pic up the difference in a clip. I would think it's more felt than heard.

So this. Im downloading clips now and trying to convey the B+ option and there is just no way of letting a listener experience the feel of an amp. I have played QRs before and I can certainly feel the difference and for me its killer but I have no way of demonstrating that to others.

But the new ones sound and feel different to the older ones anyways. I had a 2006 and also a 2008. The new one has a warmer sound and a slightly juicier feel to it even without the B+ option.

Also, any of you RT guys that are considering a Splawn, hit me up as I have been a dealer for Splawn for 6 years. You help out a fellow RT forum member and help me throw some beans and rice on the table for my kids.

Scott told me on the phone that the differences were minimal. He actually recommended the normal one to me. He also said if I wanted some more sag to use lower rated powertubes, and I'd be set.

Im editing on youtube as I type this. Ive done a completely dry clip playing gear 1 OD1 with the gain at noon. I play a bunch of classic rock riffs that most would associate with the QR.

The second video is gear 2 OD1 with just a slight amount of delay in the loop. I run through some Foo fighters riffs and Tool to show how great this QR does more than just Ac/Dc or Van Halen.

Nice. I had a Competition and just couldn't get comfortable with it. Was to bright for me. So many Splawn vids sound great. I think I'm the only one that doesn't sound good through one.

I had a 2009 that I could not get along with either. Not having that problem now !
