I'll be checking into it. I'm currently in the market for an attenuator.

Priced between $900 to over a $1000 depending on options??? Yikes!

It's pricey but worth it, I posted a couple of clips using it. I live in a 2 story town home, my studio is upstairs and never had anyone knock at my door telling me that I'm to loud. I get really great sounds at low volumes and it retains the tone of the amp.

Ive never used an Attenuator with any of the Marshalls that Ive played and been pretty happy with what the master volume did with the addition of pedals. Perhaps I need to try it and see what Im missing?

I think it will enhance your sound. I think that Marshalls with a master volume the sweet spot is between 3 and 5 and that's way to loud for my studio. I have a Marsha Friedman(#0024) and with the attenuator I get more options in tones, because you can work the power tubes a bit more. I alway use it even if I'm using even clean tones because to my ears clean tones sound better when you push the power amp section a bit, I get a bit of natural compression and the tone has more body. I never crank my amps on ten, except for a non master volume Marshall. Amps with hi gain, sound muddy when you crank them all the way up. My Aracom PLX100, which is a custom Marshall plexi/JCM800, the sweet spot is on 7 which is way to loud for even a regular gig, so the Attenuator helps a great deal!

I still haven't heard anything that sounded better than the Alex (including the Aracom...I never tried the Faustine) and it's relatively cheap compared to other high end attenuators. It doesn't have much in the way of bells and whistles (it does have a line-out though) but it does it's job extremely well.

That said, I simply don't care much for attenuators period...you simply can't replicate the interaction between guitar/amp/speakers without the actual volume.

I really like the footswitch options, that is cool. I also like that it will do 4 ohms, that is rare to find in an attenuator. That said when the attenuator is $1000 and I got all my 6 amps used for around that a price, its hard to justify, especially when there are nice cheaper options like the Rivera Rockcrusher and Alex Attenuators out there. When the attenuator is more than you paid for the amp, it should make you scratch your head.

The DRX is a brand new model, I never tried the Alex, but my DRX fell from the top of my Marshall and the top plate was bent quite bad and it still worked perfectly.I sent it to Jeff to replace the top plate and he checked it and he didn't need to do anything at all internally. I had the Ultimate Attenuator and if that would've happen to it, it would have been destroyed! I also use it as a dummyload and it works great. The dynamic control is very useful, it adjust the brightness , which is great for me because I have many different amps and some are quite bright.I'm going to post so samples soon so people can hear it in action. I know is pricey, but is worth every penny in my humble opinion. My apologies for my grammar, English is my 2nd language and Spanish is my first.
