After using the same cheapo 5 string sound gear I finally broke down and ordered a new 4 string Sterling Stingray ray4 bass.

I'm not so much of a bass player to invest more than a couple hundred on a bass but I tried a few in my price range and this one was my first choice. Thankfully Neural updated the parallax plug in.

Congrats, Clint!

The Sterlings and SUBs are great value.

I'm a Stingray guy, but it took me almost 20 years to save the bucks and "upgrade" from my old 1973 Fender Precision bass. Had the Subs and Sterlings been around back then, I'd have been totally down with either. Same sound, much-cheaper prices.

Got any pictures?

btw the Mesa mark iv works great as a bass amp as long as you run it into a bass cab. Give it a try.

It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I was thinking about using my Caldera since it's kinda like a JCM800. I know Jo Beth from bolt thrower used 800's.

I've always just used the starter squire or Ibanez so I'm really excited to try something new

Oh, you're gonna love it, mate, especially the famous Music Man bottom-end.

Different league from those basses IMHO.

I am really digging it. It feels and sounds much better than my ibanez el cheapo 5 string. It has a nice punch like 80's thrash tones

Great basses, great neck and really good tone close to the more expensive models. Congrats!

When I was bass shopping last month I really considered a Sterling due to my love of Stingrays. Hard to beat that thump! Between the two Guitar Centers and Sam Ash I have available, I couldn’t actually play one before buying and the few I have in the past were hit or miss. I haven’t had the chance to try any of the newer ones with roasted maple necks.

In the end, I ended up going with a Spector Pulse, which I also couldn’t play, but I’ve yet to hear of a shitty instrument with Spector’s name on it, even the lower end Legend stuff. Stoked with my choice, came in at just under a grand, but for the next bass I might check out a Sterling again.

Enjoy it and post some clips!!!
