So I haven't really heard a direct comparison of the 2016 new mods and spec changes vs the 13'-15' models, but I can tell that if the S switch is in anyway similar to my Dirty Shirley Mini's "S" switch, then I gotta send my beloved BE100 in for the updates. But before I consider doing this, I'd like to know more on what exactly makes the 16' BE100 less compressed and open? Cause I wouldn't think just the gain structure S mod shouldn't make the amp less compressed right? Is it the new Synergy Mustard caps making the amps more open, brighter, or the gain S switch?

I'm just trying to figure out what each update does to the "basic" normal tone of the amp. I know that the S switch changes the gain structure in 3 ways from high to low, but someone told me just the addition of the S switch update (regardless of position) made the whole amp more open and less compressed, so I was a little surprised to hear that a couple owners reporting back the S switch also seemed to change the basic tone with a more raw, alive and less compressed gain even on high. So I'm wondering if it's due to anything else like the caps or components used for this mod?

I guess hearing from Dave (if you'd be so kind) to confirm exactly what your tonal analysis (and magic ears) is and shed a little more light on each of the updates and just a more detailed description on how each individual 16' BE updates change the basic tone of this already IMHO best amp of the decade.

Would really appreciate any opinions from owners of both BE100 revisions and the concerns posted above of the new 16' updates vs older amps.

Just got our updated BE-100. Love the Structure switch. Really opens the amp up to classic rock guys and cover guys who need more low gain sounds.

The Voice switch is a lot more useable now too.

The amp overall seems juicier and less toppy.

Yea I'm pretty excited about the idea of having much better low-gain tones. Hopefully it'll be more alive with an open high-end for lower classic rock, which Dave already said thats exactly what it does with lower gain now (when he answered in an older post). When lowering gain on mine now it loses too much character and gets too weak sounding.

My main concern is if the higher gain tones are the same? Was thinking the S modes would just make the amp more open alive with the lower to medium gain tones. I'm wanting and hoping the medium to higher gain tones are improved in that same way, as in more open and less compressed.

I'd like to hear what Dave has to say too. And is the cap change part of the update or is that something that you can get in addition to?

really wonder what the "s" switch do internally.
is it for bypassing one gain stage?

I would like to know also, as it is the BE sounds wonderful, practically on its own can go vintage to modern, beautiful amp.

The low-gain tones (S switch in the middle and to the left)on my updated 2016 spec BE are off the charts! Truly authentic old school Marshall influenced tones with more sustain....its a damn near perfect amp IMHO.

I love my BE100 but this switch sounds right up my alley, I wonder Dave would add that to mine?

So far everybody is happy with their update, Friedman deliver some Majic Mojo..

So how do you know if you have one with the latest updates straight from the factory? Whats the date or first serial number that has all the latest updates? I read on this thread 2016 but does that go back to 1/1/16?

I have one on the way from Sweetwater. It's a demo and he didn't know the year but said they go quick so it should be a 2016.
