I'm not sure who if anyone on RT is into Swede death metal monsters Bloodbath but they have a new album coming out with a new singer and they released a new track today. The new singer is Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost and their old singers include Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth (prior to the removing of his balls) and Peter Tagtgren from Hypocrisy/Pain.

The tone is filthy and fueled by what I believe are rectifiers and their signature Boss HM2 pedals but they brought in some new custom made HM2 style pedals on this recording. The tone is sludgy but for them it works.

Awesome! This is the pedal they used. I know that guy that makes them.

Holy crap that is BRÜTAL! Awesome!

Good thread. Heard this yesterday at work via blabbermouth....I thought it sounded killer. Different style vocals, but I can dig it...reminds me of old Entombed with some keys. Can't wait to hear the rest of it after yesterday.

One of the pedals they used. All they noted is that they tried it, there's no word on what made the final cut. I am gathering the HM2 was a good portion of the tone and then they used that bad boy for one of the rhythm tracks. SWEEEET clone though.

Alot of people are complaining about the vocals. Mostly Opeth / Mikael fan boys that don't take into consideration that he left the band and has also quit growling. Why would anyone want him on the new album. A lot of them also don't grasp what Swedish death metal vocals are supposed to sound like. It's not American DM, its Euro DM. To each their own though. I like it.

Agreed Timeroo.

He quit, to me he is kinda done with metal as a whole? The new Opeth is straight up doobie brothers stuff. If that floats your boat, that's cool....I for one gave it one listen on Spotify and haven't thought about it since. Sad, cuz Still Life and Blackwater Park are top albums of any time frame.

Deliverance / Damnation were the peak for Opeth. He should be releasing this new crap under his own name instead of the name Opeth. It's lame prog junk. I listened to the new album and it was both painful and hilarious.

I dislike the new vocal style, but it has nothing to do with Mikael fanboy-ism. I don't even really like Opeth, even during their "peak" stuff. I always preferred Peter's vocals the best. Then again, I also think that the band went kinda downhill ever since Swanö left the group.

I liked Peter's the best as well and while I was REALLY hoping the new singer would be Jorgen Sandstrom, a lot of factors pointed to him, I thought it was obvious but then.... not so much. Nick Holmes is not by any means bad though, I just think his style suits the Swedish death metal sound that they have.

Finally checked fit out. Pretty awesome stuff.

Sounds raw, dark and melodic all with clear but not too polished production.
