In a world rapidly moving away from large cabs in favor of digital and frfr, I bought a brand new oversized 4x12!
Props to Marek from Driftwood for getting this shipped so fast from Germany to Australia. Somehow also bypassed Aussie import duties and arrived tax-free
First impressions are this thing is built like a tank, rock solid construction and beautifully finished.
The central beam does rotate and has a slight wobble to it, but only with the back panel off, which bolts directly into it. I'd image it's quite snug when closed up. If it bothers me in the future, I imagine it's nothing 1-2 extra bolts through the easily accessible front baffle won't take care of.
This one is loaded with 8ohm DV77s and Hesu Demons, mainly due to scarcity in supply in Australia. I have grand plans to trial my on-order Karnivores, late 80s blackframe T4139 V30s, NinjaRafs' old 2003 T4335 V30s and new late 2024 UK T3903 V30s.
Will be directly comparing it to my old Mesa OS 4x12 loaded with the OEM T4335 2004 V30s.
To say I wasn't influenced by this Kohle video is an understatement. Kristian's cab had such a presence and aggressive yet still familiar tone, I had to try it out myself:
Will keep RT updated with my thoughts.
